Poznań 1918 -1945

It is interewsting part of Poznańs history. Decsion made by our government was to let all Germans stay in our city. They were in miniority and that was Polish policy in Poznań. All Germans could stay. In 1939 when hitler invaded Poland of course Germans brought by Prussian authorities were supporting Hitler and expeling Poles, about 100 000 Poles were expeled form Poznań between 1939 - 1944. http://www.inyourpocket.com/feature/70064-WWII_Poznan.html "After being annexed by Nazi Germany in 1939 Poznań was incorporated into the Third Reich and saw an aggressive Germanisation policy with over 100,000 civilians expelled from the city, replaced with Volksdeutch settlers from the Baltic States and other far-flung regions. Of those exiled many died in mass executions conducted in 1940 in the area surrounding Lake Rusałka." After the war only tinny community of old Bamber farmers could stay in Poznań. Most Germans escaped, Poznań was first town where Russians could met "true Germans" ... In 1945 Poznań became Polish like before partitions.
