How Long for a Pole to get a passport

Hello Forum,

I am an american from California but I live and work in Poznan. Been here for about 1 1/2 years and will be here for 1 1/2 more at least (hopefully more). I am considering taking my Polish girlfriend on vacation to the USA this summer. She does not have a passport. How long does it usually take for a pole to get a passport and a visa for the USA.

I have read the forum quite a bit but this is my first post.

Dziekuje bardzo,

She just has to go to Warsaw to apply. My gf went, paid and she received it in the mail a few weeks later. It was for a 10 yr, so it's very possible. It would help very much if she were a student or can prove that she has "strong ties" to Poland

What type of tech work do you do?

I work in the US defense industry, here on contract for 3 years with hopefully an extention.

As far as the strong ties to Poland/Student she is Polish in fact she has never been outside Poland. I am wondering if it is even feasable for her to obtain a Passport and A US Visa before June. Not to down Poland in any way I love your country but the Bureaucracy here tend to slow down things. Can I pay more for expidited service?

Passport = about one month.

Visa = not sure, but I think you can also sort it out in Krakow. Phone the embassy to check.

I mean strong ties like...property, bank acct/w money, good job. Sometimes an invitation letter helps, but they didn't even want to look at the one I typed up.

Sounds good so I understand one has to go in person to Warsaw for a passport. In the USA there are service companies that do all the leg work and expedite the proceedure for you. Of course there is a fee. Is there not the same here? Can it not be done through the Post?

Either way I need to get her a passport. I like to travel.

Now if she will just try and speak english...........

Thanks

No. She should be able to it in her own city. The same place she got her ID.

The visa will involve a trip to Warsaw or wherever.

You can call the USA consulate in Poznań and ask if she can get a visa there (it's located near plac Wielkopolski). There's probably no need to go over Wisla just to get a visa.
