Russian president signed act acknowledging Abkhasia and South Ossetia as independent states!

Neverthless, I don't think that it is a good decision ! But now it is a fact.

Neither do I. Anyway want to know why you don't support that...

In terms of humanity that was right, but in terms of politics... I'm afraid that wasn't in interests of Russia and could do us more harm rather than good.

my congrats. Russia is still world power, i see

let me add something

Russia recognizing Kosovo inside of Serbia. It is much more important then fact that USA recognizing Kosovo out of Serbia

Poland should join Russia over Kosovo issue. If anything can join Polish-Russian efforts and interests those are Serbians

Serbs wait for Poles. We know that Poland is under pressure. We want to see how Poles and Russians work togather

its absolutely real political fact that key element of Russian potential coming from Slavic world on Western and Southern Russian borders. All Slavs mutualy depend on each others. It`s fact not Pan-Slavism

when we are on "real politik", fact is also that Russia using those other Slavs as condoms from time to time

We had used it only once, when at the begining of WWII had tried to contact with Hitler through Bulgarian embassador in Moscow. Do you remember whose sattekite was Bulgaria in those times?

russia has never tried to create pan-slavic union and partnership with neighbours. russia always wanted to rule the other nations. that's why people in other slavic countries dislike russia (maybe serbs does but in this case I would say russian friendship is rather part of political game. I don't think they really give a sh!t about serbia). Russia has and always had only vasals, enemies and now partners in bussines among neighbours. no real friends.

Serbs may like Russians because Russians are not their neighbors.

The reality is that Russia is a rogue state and just about the only hope for those in danger of being bullied by Russians is alcohol. Russians are drinking themselves to extinction, and if the trend continues the Cyrrylic alphabet will be replaced with simplified Chinese in a matter of a few decades.

true, but they were neighbour of soviet union's satelites and also communist state. But in Tito's Yugoslavia communism had 'human face'. If they were as close with the big brother - CCCP as Cechoslovakia, Hungary or us they wouldn't have such a strong feelings toward russia. Soviet influence in Yugo wasn't so strong.

Politics like in old Breznev times after his remote control was already broken - now everybody can see Putin & Co went berserk.
Nice gift for East-European politicians being permanently accused of "Russophobia".

Thank you Russia .
Now even Angela and Sarco can watch you acting like Jack the Ripper.

The price to pay - let me play Nostradamus:

1. No Nord-Stream pipeline.
2. No Sochi Olimpics 2014.
3. Farewell to G8 and WTO.
4. Deep economic crisis in Russia starting soon, maybe already 2009 ?

Russia had to do this or get out.

Russia has to officially recognize independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to keep its troops there. The thing is that peacekeepers may remain in the conflict area by mutual agreement of both parties. Therefore, the approval of Georgia is vital, but President Mikheil Saakashvili denounced the presence of Russia’s peacekeepers August 12, viewing them as occupants starting from that day.

At the same time, Moscow harbors no illusions about the global response to this move. “By recognizing independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, we will breach the principle of territorial integrity of sovereign Georgia. Besides, there is the U.N. Security Council resolution on Abkhazia that spells out that the conflict is to be resolved in view of the territorial integrity of Georgia. If Tbilisi goes to law, the proceedings won’t be in our favor,” a well-informed source close to the government said on condition of anonymity.

I think I can safely say the Nordstream will be ready at term...
It's a business- and energy matter!

Well...they just had a big party in Peking....now taking away
the games from Russia would be hypocrisy at best!
(At least Russia HAS votings actually)

Russia is hardly a minor business player. G8 and WTO are non-political but business/economic organizations...

just because the red recognise them doesn't make them so. not one other country sees them as independent. so, in the end i take it you're completely cool with Kosovo the way it is, right? hehe

btw. those two will be part of russia soon enough.

You can grint your teeth, but nobody here cares about your opinion. This states are independet now. You have nothing to oppose this fact except stupid road-shows of your weak-minded presidents.

Germans opinion ... the bigest europe's mistake was unification of eastern and wester Germany after 1989. Many French and british politicans have seen it as threat.

It is good that you show your point of view.

Well...what's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Before you are so quick denying other peoples their independence you should remember your own history!

I have to agree....I don't see Poland as a real "border" should Russia be determined.
But that's the difference of our viewpoints here, isn't it Cel?
You see the Russians already planning and plotting whereas I think they just can't be arsed...:)

Now honestly. European game looks like that. Germans want to break strategic reltationship with the US. It is nocitable. Why do you think Dutch fight on first line in Afghanistan like Poles. Danes were strongly crtisizing Putin and support Ukraine on their effort to join NATO. Swedes foreign minister call Putin's policy "Hitler"and has pro american foreign policy. We are your neighbours and we know game you play. Missle shield isn't dangerous for russia it is defence system. I would like to see europe and Russia in good friendship but IMO it is going to be on cost of central european states. Russians have broken all agreements with Sarkozy and Merkel. Russians show their real intentions. Even your press and chancelor pointed it out

And your ober-zonie Erich thought 1989
"It will take the next 100 years for the wall to fall"
About the same accuracy of timing.

As for the crisis in Russia:
Some leading Russian analysts are expecting a deep collapse of the Russian economy within just a few years.
Have no time to search for the link.
Anyway, it was in Russian.

Well, Erich hadn't had the power of EON or BASF behind him....:)

There is nothing good coming out for Europe in an instabile, poor, collapsing and hence restless Russia!
This is the times of the demagogues who promise the people everything, and a war with their neighbours is a often tried and tested way to discern from home problems.

Wishing for Russia to do badly economical is very stupid and very shortsighted, Borrka (even for you).

PS: The contrary is the only way - a good running open economy which is tied to Europe and the West is the best guarantee....satisfied people have to much to lose but to risk adventures!
