Another Case Of Intentional HIV Infections in Poland

A Krakow lawyer has accused a 47-year-old man of unsafe direct transmission of the HIV virus.

Spokesperson for the Krakow District Attourney, Boguslaw Marcinkowski, is searching for women who could have been infected by Wieslaw S. The spokesperson adds that the suspect contacted many women via Internet, so they are able to find the addresses of many women on his computer.

He has been a carrier for 18yrs My thought: If this guy infected as many people as Simon Mol who infected possibly 40 women (according to news reports) and these people infected two others... By the time you get to eight generations of contact. That's over ten thousand infected men and women. Be careful who you sleep with.

i was just reading about it... one of his victim was 15 years old girl... he knew from '90 he's got HIV... it's a long time, many women... it's insane...

It is because HIV is something rather new in Poland. HIV in europe HIV in the world Many people don't think about HIV durring sex.

Few years ago there was no HIV in Poland only small group of drug addicted was risky group. It seems that now it changes ... Some people are just not conscious about new danger. Seriously, this guy should be put in front of a firing squad. In the U.S. this person could be prosecuted for manslaughter for each intentional case of HIV infection. What a piece of sh*t.

I wonder what they will charge him with. What's the penalty in Poland? Here in Canada there is a case where an african man with HIV is being charged with 1st degree murder (2 women actually died) for not disclosing his medical condition before having sex with many women.

When I was young (in sunny England for those of you who don't know), I remember a warning broadcast over and over again on TV with the doom-laden voice of John Hurt and the image of an iceberg (how all that can be seen above the surface is the tip of the iceberg). "Use a candom" was the message. It got through to me, even though I was too young to even know what a condom was. For some time, I believe this message was effective - it worried people into being cautious. I don't think it's so much on young people's radars these days. How does this compare with Poland, where there is not only the Catholic problem with using condoms, but there is also (as there is around the world) a degree of sexual promiscuity. Are there or have there ever been warnings about HIV and AIDS?

During marshal law, when there was a significant increase of Catholic activities by even those who had never been baptised, one of the most sought after goods were condoms. Are condom sales that low these days? What the church says is not what the people do. I wouldn't go as far as to blame the RC in Poland for what people in Poland "wear" during sex.

I don't know about condom sales but what I do know is that, in Tesco, they have them both in the toiletries/cosmetics area and at the checkouts. Putting them at the checkouts is hardly attempting to dissuade people from buying and ultimately using them. I c ur point Darius and I'm glad that there aren't too many devout Catholics on the go. It's better to temper the views of the church with other sources and make a decision thereafter. If people blindly follow the church and don't use contraception, then let them bear the consequences.

Yeah, it's important to acknowledge that Wrocław, good point. It's a pity that Fisherman's Friends (sweets/candy) discovered the 'suck 'em and see' slogan first. It would've made a great logo for Durex flavoured condoms. Still, sucking on a fisherman's friend has a funny ring to it. Sorry, I had to lighten the thread up. Although I've never had HIV, there was a chance that I had it and it's petrifying. When u receive the all-clear, the feeling of relief is strong. I'll say no more than this.

Wroclaw: They can be bought in most places... in many flavours Are these some kind of edible condoms? ;) A true story I read in a Polish legal magazine "Prawo i Zycie" (Law and Life) sometime in the 80's. A guy bought a bunch of condoms in a pharmacy and asked the pharmacist how they should be used. The pharmacists thought the fella was into some funny joking so she "retaliated", told him to swallow one before sex and to drink a glass of water. The guy did exactly that, and ended up needing an emergency surgery.
