Iraqi Man Throws Shoes at President Bush

ABC News' Martha Raddatz reports from Baghdad: Not everyone is excited about President Bush's surprise trip to Iraq.

An Iraqi man in Prime Minister Nouri-al Maliki's palace threw two shoes at President Bush during a joint press conference with Maliki. The president had to duck to avoid the shoes but he was not hit.

The man was grabbed and dragged out screaming.

I've just seen it on TV, nearly hit him as well........The man is a journalist that had been previously detained. Throwing shoes at someone is considered a huge insult in Irag apparently.....pity he wasn't a better shot

I remember all the pairs of flipflops used to beat an old toppled statue of Sadam Hussein.

At the moment, if you type in "bush" and "shoes" on youtube, you get a selection of Kate Bush videos.

I immediately found the pictures of guys who threw shoes at Bush.

Here they are, starting from the earliest.

The selection of shoe shows lack of proper planning. He should have worn a brogue or maybe a clog.

Yeah, the security allegedly had doubts about that man. When they told him to shoe, I think he got the wrong end of the stick.

George Bush looked death in the face and was not found wanting. Whether its an IED or Wellington boot, he wont flinch from the task at hand.

He can now look the troops in Iraq in the eye and say 'hey, I've been there dude. I know what its like'. He is a Commander-in-Chief worthy of the title.

I salute you sir!

Yeah, he can thank his lucky stars that he wasn't dodging bullets.

He was rumoured to have said, 'My aim here is to find and snuff out the rogues'. I think the Iraqi journalist interpreted it as to find and sniff the brogues.

Lovely shoes, brogues :)

Georgie Boy, is now on par with Hillary Clinton who claimed that she came under fire in Bosnia. This proved to be a farce.

Geraldo Riviera, claimed to have walked on hallowed ground and was shot at. In Afghanistan

All American politicians are heroes.

Georgie Boy, written like a Scotsman. Are you of Scottish origin?

A bit like John McCain going through the 'danger zones' of Iraq. With a huge friggin complement of marines.

Nope, I am a true blue Yankee. Proud of my country but disillusioned with my leaders.
Did you see that home that that scumbag bought in Texas.

I'd like to say he earned it but that would be far from the truth. His PNAC cohorts are no better. It's no surprise that his buddy is called 'Dick' Cheney.

You are missing the point that my Polish ain't that good. It could be better.

I am Scottish born and bred. I have Irish family too.

Why do you think that a foreigner can't use Polish well? Just curious.

Being exposed all of your life? Well, I doubt that I am better than you then. I have learned a lot in a short time but not to your level I guess.
