This company is a joke, should be privatized and some lazy postmen fired.

They were all on strike today when I went to the central office to pay tax on my parcel.

All this before a large-scale visitation to France by Polish people. If anyone knows how to strike, it's the French.

Jeżeli nie wiadomo o co chodzi, to chodzi o pieniądze, as we say in Poland ;)

They want a monthly pay increase of 140€.
The strike continues with members of a Trade Union Solidarnosc who are actually beeing sued by the Polish Post Office because apparently their strike is illegal .
Not sure strikes are permitted among civil servants in the Polish Constitution since 1989 but teachers, doctors and judges also went on strike in th past 2 years.

Personally, I think their pay should be performance related, because I am sick of my post either missing or delivered to the other side of town and a little old lady bless her, then walks across town to bring it to me.
We have complained persistently to the post office and the postwoman has received a reprimand, but still it happens. Now we have given the old lady our phone number and she calls us when she has our mail and we go and pick it up. I could understand if our addresses were similar, but they are completely different.

They are a total waste of space and should be as another poster said, privatized, to weed out the dead wood Grrrrrrrr

I was talking by phone to a friend in Warsaw yesterday and she told me of a group of very angry elderly Poles beating at the door of her (closed and empty) local post-office, outraged apparently that they couldn't access their pension cheques. My friend hasn't received any bills since the strike started (and neither has she received a parcel I sent her from Australia). Any indication as to when the strike will be resolved?

Can anyone tell me if this is this all sorted out now? I am waiting for some documents in the post (from Poland to UK) and I can't plan my next trip there until I receive it.

The strike is still on, but some post offices are open and mail is moving. That's all I know.
