Here is my tribute to poland from a british perspective - please enjoy.
I think this sums the poles up very well

You really should get a treat from that noble lady now. As far as 5000 miles from you and through a wireless screen no less, I already feel overwhelmingly dizzy due to your rather hauntingly provocative smell. According to our accient tradition, my granny would thrash my ass if I ever leave my toilet that stinkin'...

Um, sorry to be so damned politically-corrected. I suppose there are always some chic female lavatories out there who may think your aroma kinda agreeable, nay, erotic...

It's very pretty but I would never want to live in a 2nd world country. Alot of south american countries are pretty but I would never want to live their either. Poland is just too backwards and religious. I think it will change once they become more of a part of the EU. After 20 or so years I am sure it will be better there but for now it's just so corrupt and backwards as a result of the occupation.

BTW You live in one the most corrupt countries in the world.

Well poland is classified as a 2nd world country. It has high unemployment and a low income per capita. It has an extremely religious population not unlike countries of the middle east except every1 is extremest catholics not muslims. Gender roles are the norm and homophobia and bigotry is widely accepted. I have also heared bribing of law officials is also accepted!

BTW You live in one the most corrupt countries in the world.

That is an opinion not a fact. Poland is religiously biased which in my opinion is way worse! Just look back in history at theocracies! Poland is closer the a theocracy than any other country in europe!

Extremest catholic? Are you sure you were in Poland? I'm not confronted everywhere with religion and people aren't throwing religion at me from all directions. Yes, they're mostly christian, but it isn't forced upon you. How can you compare this to a strict Muslim country?

Gender roles are the norm and homophobia and bigotry is widely accepted. I have also heared bribing of law officials is also accepted!

Have you ever been to the south in the US?

Do you not think that US officials are bribed on a daily basis?

Sounds like a lot of this is YOUR opinion.

true.

Did you know that America is considered to be one of the most religious countries? Your constitution is being debated because people want it to be more secular.

Sure Polish people are religious, but you won't see a bunch of fanatics wearing a 'wwjd' bracelet and walk around handing out pamphlets in an attempt to 'spread the word'. The US still has universities and hospitals that are religious based. Your nation was built on Puritan beliefs, and you're saying that Poland is an extremist religious nation. Such ignorance and hypocrisy from an 'educated' individual makes me feel disappointed in your 'superior' school system.

ur.umich.edu/0304/Nov24_03/15.shtml

Here's my favourite fact (yes, fact, not opinion) about America and religion:

America is one of the most religious countries in the world, but shamefully one of the most religiously illiterate places, a Boston University professor claims.

christianpost.com/article/20070306/26166_New_Book_Claims_that_America_is_'Religiously_Illiterate'.htm
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/wtwtgod/3490490.stm

The list could go on and on.

America isn't nearly as religious as poland. Yes america is religious but very diverse. Poland is not diverse! When more than one church is very large in a nation there is no controlling religion or denomination of a religion! Poland is run by the roman catholic church!

America is one of the most religious countries in the world, but shamefully one of the most religiously illiterate places, a Boston University professor claims.

HA are u deluded or just illiterate? America being one of the most religious countries is not a fact! It could be a fact that they r in the top 10 most relgious countries because they have a percent of the population that is one of the highest in the top 10. It's difficult to define religious too. There are several definitions of religious.

dictionary.reference.com/browse/religion

The study just alludes to a belief in god. In poland almost 80% of people attend catholic church regularly. Does a belief in god constitute religion? I don't think so! This study isn't credible in my opinion. The info i have found on other sites would put poland as the most religious country and it's not even listed on here!

poland is classified as a 2nd world country

None of us live in the 1st world. We all live in the 3rd world. Let me explain...

1st world = Mercury
2nd world = Venus
3rd world = Earth
4th world = ... not sure. Is it the Moon? Is it Mars? Is it Grzegorz's ego?

the world revolves around the US

Not entirely. See my last point. I think it's big enough to pull things into its orbit, whether they like it or not.

America isn't nearly as religious as poland. Yes america is religious but very diverse. Poland is not diverse! When more than one church is very large in a nation there is no controlling religion or denomination of a religion! Poland is run by the roman catholic church!

Religion in America is diverse? Who are you kidding? By diverse, you must mean all the different denominations of protestantism. Muslims are hardly accepted by Americans.

America is a CHRISTIAN nation. The leader of your nation even claimed that invading Iraq was permissible because God let him do it. One would think that the President of the 'most powerful nation in the world' is Louis XIV.

Rocky, you are extremely dense if you believe that Poland is `run` by the Catholic church. The pope has no power in the state whatsoever. For the people, religion is a personal issue, not a political one. America, on the other hand, is run by Bible thumping hicks and Zionists. That`s probably why America is such a religious nation that doesn't know what she`s preaching about.

America being one of the most religious countries is not a fact! It could be a fact that they r in the top 10 most relgious countries because they have a percent of the population that is one of the highest in the top 10. It's difficult to define religious too. There are several definitions of religious.

America is mostly a Judeo-Christian nation. Many Americans identify themselves as such. According to ARIS, in 2001 over 80% of Americans defined themselves as Christians. Sure that`s less than 90whatever% of Polish people identifying themselves as Catholic but at least we`re honest about it. You are in some serious denial Rocky, if you actually believe that America is a secular country and that defining the term `religious` is actually relative. Religion in America is pretty cut and dry rather than the diverse thing you think it is.

You`ll note that Poland was not in the top 10, although Russia was. There goes your theory that Poland is the most religious European country.

Top 10 Largest National Christian Populations
Rank Nation Number Percent
1 USA 224,457,000 85%
2 Brazil 139,000,000 93%
3 Mexico 86,120,000 99%
4 Russia 80,000,000 60%
5 China 70,000,000 5.7%
6 Germany 67,000,000 83%
7 Philippines 63,470,000 93%
8 United Kingdom 51,060,000 88%
9 Italy 47,690,000 90%
10 France 44,150,000 98%
11 Nigeria 38,180,000 45%

adherents.com/largecom/com_christian.html

Suddenly, defining the term `religious` became a lot easier.
Again, note that Poland is not in this list of largest Christian populations.

The study just alludes to a belief in god. Does a belief in god constitute religion? I don't think so!

No it wouldn't, but a nation identifying themselves with a particular religion would.
The study isn't alluding to anything other the FACT that the good Ole USofA is an overwhelmingly Christian nation. A Christian nation that is laden with poverty, obesity, illiteracy, racism, bigotry, homophobism and all that other crap you are worried about.

"Suddenly, defining the term `religious` became a lot easier.
Again, note that Poland is not in this list of largest Christian populations"

Then the study is invalid. Poland is 96% catholic! If catholics are christian then poland would be a more religious country than the USA on the assumption it's the proportion that determines how religious a country is and not the number of followers of a religion. How come it even bothers to show the percent of religious individuals in china? That study isn't refering to the percent of religious individuals it is referring to the number! We aren't talking about who has the "most" individuals in a population that are religious we are referring to wat proportion of individuals in the population are religious! China is an extremely unreligious country because of the small percentage of the population that practices religion.

Christianity is a large tradition with many different denominations having completely different systems of belief. It is difficult to even consider some denominations the same religion because of contradictory principles and laws. America has a christian tradition because so many individuals have a respect for christ not a christian religion.

=) So then Poland would be more religious because u can state a single denomination and a single set of principles as being the vast and controlling majority. U just disproved your own argument. =D So u think the generally accepted definition of "most" religious means the number of individuals with complete disregard to the ruling majority? Keep in mind we are looking at the country as a whole and not just the religious individuals which would disregard the majority. It is the majority that defines a country!

We can agree that poland has one of the highest percent of christians out of any european country then? I believe it's the percent of individuals who are religious that constitutes a religious country and not the number. We all know china is not a religious country so including it in the study would invalidate it being used as evidence to show how religious a country is or is not! This isn't about the number of individuals it is about the percent.

Under your system of thought demonstrated by ur reasoning a small country with 20000 individuals that was run by the catholic church under a theocracy containing a 100% catholic population wouldn't b as religious as china! RIGHT? YES or NO =)

I sure hope u realize that "one of the most" is an opinion by the time u attend law school. I do find it honorable that u are willing to stick to a point and argue but sometimes u just cannot win! Then u get PWNED by me! =)

I do find it honorable that u are willing to stick to a point and argue but sometimes u just cannot win!

Here`s the thing, Rocky: I never said that Poland was not a religious nation. My main point is that America is also a very religious country. It makes you look hypocritical arguing that Poland is corrupt because it is so religious when the nation that you live in is also very religious. So religious that your President (supposedly elected) declared war and used God as one of many excuses. Manifest Destiny is based on religion also, and this is what America is founded upon.

Poland is a religious nation, but as I`ve said, religious is cultural and personal rather than political (these days).

Then u get PWNED by me!

You don't worry me Rocky.

I will agree with u that America is very religious as for the one of the most I am not too sure about that. I more than agree with u on Bush being a religious insane moron! I am deeply saddened that he was elected president! I am 19 and I am positive I could have done a better job than him! I would never base a decision off of my invisible friend that's for sure! America still isn't as religious as poland though. Where I live in California people aren't that religious so I haven't been exposed to how religious america can be however I am fully aware of it. HA i know u probably hate me by now Mali but I am starting to enjoy u! =D

Arguing and debating is wat i grew up around so whenever I am involved in some sort of argument I am about as happy as i get sober =). =D I think I like u now Mali! =) It's kind of annoying me now because my GF won't ever argue with me and just agrees with me on everything. =( I am so not used to this I grew up around strong women and I somtimes don't even know how to have a convo without debate.

I am deeply saddened that he was elected president!

`elected`. (I don`t know what I did to my notebook because all my symbols are coming up weird....you`ll have to excuse my backwards apostrophes)

Some people will debate whether or not he was actually elected.

America still isn't as religious as poland though

Debatable. Poland is religious in % of pop., but they are slowly managing to make the state as secular as possible. Bush is trying to do the opposite. If you guys get another Bush-type leader after the next elections, your constitution is in trouble.

*Hopefully no more neo-cons will be elected to power*

Where I live in California people aren't that religious so I haven't been exposed to how religious america can be however I am fully aware of it.

I`ll be complacent here. I can`t disagree with that.
Although....some will say that the big business owners in Cali are mostly Zionists.

HA i know u probably hate me by now Mali but I am starting to enjoy u! =D

Should I worry? lol
I don`t mind debating as long as it doesn`t get nasty (I`m guilty there sometimes). Name-calling ends up repetitive and pointless and I get bored and move on.

Good debating skills are very useful for many professions because it means that you can stand up for something and argue a point. However, debating can turn into something completely pointless as the debaters get angry or annoyed and the topic of debate turns into something else entirely. Headache inducing.

I`ve noticed a lot of improvement in your debates, Rocky. At least now, you`re worth debating because it doesn`t turn into ***** ***** *****.
Your gf agrees with you outwardly, probably so you shut your pie hole :)
How long have you been together? Maybe she doesn`t feel comfortable enough to argue with you.

Poland is run by the roman catholic church!

You make it sound like a crime. So Poland is not for you...big deal.

Poland is just too backwards and religious

for you...a lot of people like the way Poland is.

it's just so corrupt

Ehem...I've lived in the states for all but 2 years of my life. I'll let you in on a little secret.

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT WON, BUT BOUGHT... There you go. Remember how Bush won? The entire US government is corrupt. I doubt there is an uncorrupt government in this world.

As for too religious...do you have Polish people ringing your doorbell at 7 AM on saturdays giving you pamphlets about God? No...but here in America this happens all the time to us. Freakin Jehova's Witnesses don't give a damn what your religion is, they come to your door anyway trying to press their faith into your life.

You're giving all these opinions and trying to pass them off as fact. Yeah, Poland has high unemployment and it is currently 2nd world, but if the US is so great why do we allow illegal immigrants to steal our jobs? Why are there so many homeless in the self proclaimed Greatest Country In the World?

There isn't a perfect country in existence.

So most Poles don't like gays. Its THEIR country to run, and nobody elses. Why should anybody else step in and say Poles have to give gays the same rights as straights? Does everyone have to conform to American, British, French, etc. ways?

I think it's perfectly fine that you don't want to live in Poland. Nobody will force you to, but don't try to make it sound like your opinions are proven facts.

I have never found gays to be oppressed in Poland. They have the same rights every citizen has. Yeah, I know, they can't get married. But marriage is a tricky thing legally and socially. It's supposed to create families and new children, that's what at the back of everyone's minds. But being denied marriage does not equal oppression. Many famous Poles are and were (also pre-WW2) gay or bisexual and it was never a terribly big deal, they definitely did not go to jail for that or get prosecuted. I have a gay friend, hang out with him a lot in Poland and he never seems oppressed or timid or wary or in any other way shy to express his sexual preferences ;-)

(And doesn't get into trouble for it, either).
