anyone been to St Petersburg?

What does a decimal place or two mean anyway? 0.1% (that's the percentage of St. Petersburg's population that were counted as Polish in the 2002 census) I ought to welcome you all to page two. I've never been to St. Petersburg. I never went to Leningrad either... or Petrograd... or Nyenskans... or whatever that area was called before anything was built. Someone on PF has (I'm referring now to the place before the first plank of wood was laif, even of Swedish fort which eventually... you get the idea). Anyway, if you read this thread closely, you will see that he used a rude word somewhere, which suprised me just a little.

I think Russia is a place i would love to visit, however i've heard it is expensive and really hard to get a Permit to enter the country. I remember when all the football fans went across to Moscow, there was all sorts of trouble in getting permits etc and some of the stories about the authorities!!!! Jova: Jova some nice photo's there :) i can assume you did not take them yourself?? or am i wrong

Next time we're wainting for you in Moscow to feel the difference (I hope not in terms of people's politness)... Pics are very nice. Did you manage to see "belie nochi" (so-called "white nights")? tornado2007: I think Russia is a place i would love to visit, however i've heard it is expensive and really hard to get a Permit to enter the country. Torny, from what I heard at least for Americans it's not a problem to get Russian visa. I suspect same is for the Great Britain (am I right that you're from the GB?)

Jova: I've already been to Moscow. I didn't manage to 'feel the difference' though because I spent only a couple of days there. Moscow as a financial center of Russia with considerably higher salaries has much more immigrants from the former USSR and from other Russian cities thus you don't always feel good being the part of all this crowd. It's definitely not a peace&quiet place. I can't say I belong in Moscow. :)

Jova: Where do you belong then? :) First and foremost the way I feel is strongly determined by my surroundings, people around me, my friends. Expressing my view on Moscow I only meant that was not the best place to live at discounting friends I have here.
