The whole point is that it's a car designed specifically for disabled people to drive.

The company Reliant made the Robin, so it should be a Reliant Robin.
Robin Reliant is the usual name for some odd reason.

Three paragraphs before the end.

Around 4am somewhere on the Northumbrian coast the window fell out and we were enveloped in freezing fog

No...there was a three wheel car made for disabled people , but it was not the Reliant robin...the Reliant robin was made to cater for those who wanted a car but had not passed a car test...you could drive it on a motorcycle licence.....The three whell disabled vehicle was another animal altogether , horrid blue and white things that had a two stroke motorcycle engine....bloody death traps.....

bloody death traps.....

yeah i bet they were, especially if disabled people were driving them, lol.

disabled people were driving them,

They had tiller steering rather than a normal steering wheel , very odd.....a mate of mine with too much time on his hands put a Kawasaki engine in one he got from his uncle......four of us were in the thing going at rather a silly speed when the front wheel collapsed.....The hospital staff who treated us didn,t believe our tale of what happed........untill the Police who found the wreckage in a ditch turned up at the hospital with note books and pens at the ready......well your honour it was like this........

sounds like a great story, i bet you were the talk of the hospital if not the town for a while after that, sounds like a classic

When it went to court the magistrate dismissed the case as he didn,t believe the Police estimate that the thing was clocking 60 mph when it crashed....they could not be certain of course as nobody had ever gone over 25 mph in one , so there was no record of how long a skid mark it would make.....It made the local papers , and confirmed our parents belief that we were all nutters.....We did try to rebuild the thing with a stronger front wheel and more power , but my mates parents set the thing on fire for our own safety...pity ...we could have beaten the space shuttle by lots of years.....

They came as Both Saloon(With hatchback) And Van(With rear door)
Built of fibreglass.

My Uncle drove nothing else.
Bc He only had a Motorbike License.

They were prone to breaking down. And were a complete ***** to work on.
Access to the engine is via two panels inside. One in the passenger and drivers footwells.
And a small bonnet type hatch.

And very easy to roll.
They switched the name. From Robin Reliant. To Reliant Robin. In hopes of avoiding the bad rap the car got. (It didnt work lol)

On a Plus note.

They are very economic. And cheap to tax and insure.

The follow on to the Reliant Robin was a rather "trendy" 3 wheeller called the "Bondbug", some 2,500 were produced and again, only a motorbike licence was needed. (see) Bondbug.com for more details.

Fondly known as a "chicken chaser" usually driven by someone in their late 80is...oh and usually in yellow or that horrible man city blue! I had a friend who's grand father had one and she borrowed it and yes i did have a little drive of it...ROLF :)
