Poles in Britain... since the war.

The recent influx of Poles to Britain is not the first - after the World War II thousands fled communist rule to seek sanctuary in the UK. Some ended up at a remote resettlement camp in Devon and never left.

There was a documentary about this a little while agao, that may have been the BBC as well. One of the women who worked in the shop was born and brought up at the camp.

My Great Aunt was Polish, she came to the UK after the war and settled, marrying a guy from the Uk and never went back.
