What do Polish people think about the cultural life in England? I know it is a very general question....so let me explain more thoroughly what I want to know...Do Polish people feel strange here? How do they react on the British pub culture? Do they think British people waste a lot of money? And how do they think about family values in Little Britain? And what is quite different to Polish culture?

rafik: not a lot to be honest.i found it easy to adjust. That's coz you're a nice guy Rafik :) It all depends on the person, some adjust quicker to a new country than others. Depends on their age, their family ties who they leave behind, the reason why they leave their country and who they came with. Leaving a family behind can make a person lonely or make that person find new companionship. Every situation is different and every individual will react differently but the majority take precedence over the situation and you do find many of them drinking, maybe because they have money now.

Sorry GodandBrown, but while I abhor noimmigration, and have kept away from this site for months because of him, and yet the git is still allowed here, I think you may just find this is an Anglo-Polish site. And we defend its Anglo-Polishness. You ask a question, my friend, and you're going to get Brits and Poles answering. It's the nature of forums! But, as a Brit myself, I can answer one of your points. Most, not all, of my Polish friends like the British pub culture. The smoking outside is odd... but it is for me too. But they seem to love it. And they seem to know, as long as it isn't a "heaving" town centre place... but more of a "local" pub, that they're going to be able to go there when they want, and improve their English.. or just get drunk. And they seem to. I think the most integrating of places in the UK is the local... it seems to be working out. Still though, with the price of beer in uk pubs, and the smoking ban, it's not an absolute norm...it's far easier and cheaper to invite your mates around with a bag of beer, and get drunk at home. But I think us English are finding that too... especially those of us who smoke.... :?

Nevertheless my question was adressed to Poles living in England...I cannot avoid some other comments..that's the nature of forums...but I can try to express clearly what I want to know as well as I can give a comment to people who misuse threads for personal rubbish attittudes...I am really interested in impressions made by Poles while living in U.K...what's wrong with that? It has nothing to do with the Anglo-Polishness character of this site which I have never denied.

Have you ever been to Poland? If yes, you will know that there is no real pub culture in Poland. When I was in Poland in 2002, I was really surprised how people lived at that time. Perhaps something has changed since then. Going out with a Polish lass was unthinkable. Leisure activities were quite unusual...family ties were too strong...there was no interest in foreign people coming from abroad...I was lucky because of my family connections, but some of my British colleagues broke stay off after they had suffered the dark winter time...

Kilkline LOL - not really, I lived in London for a while and the best thing there is the vast amount of foreigners. I cannot say that the British made much of an impression on me socially or professionally.

Kilkline I met many through work and socialy. Most where ok as they were professional people but the yobs around London are another story. ShelleyS Financial - like everywhere else. Southern - "I guess they are particularly fond of the gay culture." I saw many English queens. lol

It make me laugh when people visit London and say 'oh, I dont like Britain!' or I dont like English culture because I saw a few chavs. I know I'd rather see a few people wearing cheap gold necklaces rather than ones made of petrol filled tyres! Trish: And yes it is peaceful here. I've lived in Warwickshire an its peaceful there too. If I visited Soweto the story would be different.

You guys should not get so offended, realise that everyone has there own opinions and if you dont want to hear what other peoples opinion are then dont ask questions. "petrol filled tyres" - unfortunately we did have such an attack recently by a South African on a Mozambiquan national. And yes we would prefer that things like that did not happen to any innocent people. But if it is peaceful here or not? It actually is as far as peaceful in SA can get.
