Hello, my polish girlfriend and I will be going to portugal soon. Can she go to portugal and back tp the UK with just her polish ID? A quick response would be helpful, thanks,
Chris.

it would be better for her to stay in poland and not have so many poles coming here and taking jobs

I think you mean 'A quick response could be helpful,
but it then again, it might just be from some pain-in-the-backside troll with naff-all to say other than ug!'

A Polish ID is good for the UK. I don't know if it is good for Portugal.

Edit. Just seen the above post.

Yes, she can. Our relatives without passports come and go through Gatwick Airport with only an ID card.

Portugal belongs to the 'Schengen zone', so I guess going there with the new type ID is OK.

Actually, Ty jesteś tylko głupią krową and that is that. My relatives have been from Częstochowa and flew back to Warsaw. One had a passport, the other, her daughter, or the other way round, I can not remember, had only an I.D. and she got back O.K. You Poles have got your freedom and five minutes later you think t you are ready to rule Europe. It is impossable to tell you anything.

And have you got ID cards issued to you by your government? The answer is NO, and neither would you want them. The Polish have both ID cards and passports, and under EU regulations can travel abroad (within the EU) on both/either. An ID card has all the personal info a passport would have, a photo, all the fittings. Have a look at one in your free time, and you might reconsider the British government's ID card scheme after all. Who knows?

Have a nicer day than yesterday.

Not quite true, most of the general public are happy to have them, its only the dodgy people that dont want them.

Actually if flying with Aer Lingus flights to Ireland you dont need a passport, just photo id and that would be to Southern Ireland not just Northern Ireland.

I think its 2012 they are being introduced, it was supposed to be 2010 but its been put back.

Ive seen one, and they are a splendid idea, much better than a passport, all the info one little chip and probably a lot harder to copy...definately the way to go. But thats just my personal opinion.

No,we dont, yet, something to do with not being a former communist dictatorship...Why would you still want them?

Not a friggin chance,we had ID cards during the war,no photos as that was considered against British civil liberties ideals. There is only one reason they are being discused these days and thats due to the members of our labour govt all being ex stalin worshipers and pinko wannabe revoloutionaries ....

speak for yourself,I have full civil service clearance and enhanced disclousers,I have nothing to hide and Im damm well against them,so are many many others who see this only as one more example of govt changing the rules, instead of govt fearing the people the people have to fear the govt....

Yes,but try getting to mainland europe without your passport shelley,or getting back from say france or holland without one.

Vive la France.

Fr: "We will protest, cause some trouble - block the roads with cabbages, and burn sheep"
UK: "Just eat it and don't make a fuss. If you can't eat all of it, just leave it on the side of the plate and say you've had sufficient."

I've waited with my passport at Dover in a long queue of Poles, all with ID cards.
See - I can answer a question... Just occasionally.

edit: My edit here was simply to make the word 'la' bold, to emphasize the correction.
