I know there was some controversy last summer on whether or not it would be safe for his commrades if he were to serve in Iraq because he would be a target. Is it anymore safe for them in Afghanistan?

I like the royals and I think it's commendable that he wants to do his part and not be given special treatment, but is this really a good idea? Your thoughts?

It's not any more safe in Afghanistan. He's been over there for 10 weeks apparently but some website leaked the news out so now the world knows. I think it would have been fine had it not been leaked but now I think he can't stay there. His nickname is "the bullet magnet"... Harry story

I forgot to add, I think it's fine that he wanted to be in the army, he's fully aware of the risks of war as any soldier is. His status means he's more vulnerable but he was just as vulnerable as a young prince or when he was out on the town as seen in the British press many times.

I'm sure that his father will be very proud of him. As will Prince Charles.

Harry has my respect. They showed pictures of him on the news 'getting involved'.

HAHAHA I saw the photos on the news, they are fake. And if that little **** flew all the way to afghan to play solider, he was obviously in th reaer with the gear making the tea.

It's just news and profit-making. I haven't seen the photos but I believe they could be fake. The Taliban would make rabbit stew of him
Wroclaw Boy   Feb 28, 08, 16:51 /  #
The Talliban couldn't make rabbit stew if they boiled water and the rabbit jumped right into it. Come on Harry keep the tradition alive... good man, say what. Lead from the top. Most of the World is not speaking English because they prefer it!

Yeah but they are hardly getting tanked in the War on Terror, with many allies fighting against them. Good old Harry, yeah right, like he's gonna be able to differentiate a standard Afghan or Pakistani from a terrorist. Rumour has it that he brought 50 pairs of underwear with him, and that was just for the first day

No shame in that when you are looking the wrong way down a gun barrel.

Unfortunately, ordinary citizens suffer the same problem.

I respect his choice to try and redress the balance.

At least it is in Afghanistan and not Iraq. Iraqi occupation shows the bad face of US foreign policy whereas there isn't so much to gain in Afghanistan.

Harrys tour has got plenty of coverage, fair enough if that is what the public want. But why did he have a TV documentery crew follow him about ? If only the others got as much coverage - such as the Anglians who returned with 22% of their men lost through enemy action ( killed or wounded ).

LOL .... nice one Wroclaw! :)

I'm no royalist, and I'm no supporter of the war.... BUT ..... i'm glad the lad had a chance to be "normal" for a change and do what he is trained to do. Good on him, he's certainly gone up in my estimation.

I can't even begin to imagine the protection around him, he will be defended to the hilt. I hope he gains strength from this experience, don't want to call him Chory Harry

I have to say, that I was pretty disgusted with what certain Americans did...The English had a blackout on all media coverage to protect him and other out there...

I was to angry to post a thread about it.
