Hi.
Does anybody know, if it's possible to get Polish citizenship,or residency for a Canadian born in Lwow?I have ancestors who lived in tne Polish/Lithuanian state, but no supporting documents of any kind.Iknow that Romania gives citizenship to people who live in Moldova or Ukraine(former Romanian territory before WW11)and so do Estonia and Hungary.Any advice?

You'll definetly need some documents.

I suggest you start with your birth certificate. Birth certificate's have the names of the child's parents so maybe you can look into your parent's history and their parents' history etc for a link to "polish blood." Try contacting the church or maybe look into getting some help from a genealogist. Remember, you only have to prove that at least one of your grandparents was a polish citizen.

Edit: Wow polish-lith state?? That's like an american asking for british citizenship. Good luck.

My parents are from Lwów,(they now live in the UK) I recently moved from the UK to Poland. Have you tried checking archives for documentation as there are birth and death records for persons who lived in Lwów prior to the outbreak of the War. These records can be found in Warsaw, Kraków and Wroc³aw, I managed to find my grandfathers documents from 1898. I am sure you are entilted to citizenship and I would check on the correct action to take at your local Polish consulate.
