In an unusual appeal, the United States is enticing Poles to visit and spend money this summer in hopes of propping up its faltering economy. The campaign comes as the Polish currency hit a historic high _ reaching 2.1194 zloty to the dollar on Monday. "The zloty is particularly strong and it's a good time to travel to the States," ......if you can get here ;)

Yes it's amazing. We invited a friend to visit us this summer and she was able to get an appointment at the embassy in less than a week!!! And she got her visa no less, no problemu! Truly amazing.

Interesting. Why not give them visas then? People want electronic devices and they are out of reach to a lot of Poles in Poland, but they could surely clean up the shelves in "Best Buy" and "Circuit City" here..as well as Walmart. :)

Don't you really see the difference between them and those who come from outside and after a few years time come to believe they are just like those who were born and raised in the US? There are many derivates/off-shoots. Napier is a university in Edinburgh, I'm sure u knew that. Many emanate from the Scottish presence in Poznan all those years ago. Cheers for pointing that out, a shared aspect of our respective cultures

I've seen quite a few interesting cases of immigrant behaviour in America. Yeah, it's really great time for tourism and business and I would be the first to go there even this summer as I have no plans for now and lots of free time. But I'm not allowed there (read I need visa) so no thank you.. I'll go to Canada or Malta/Greece.

sausage: Shame about the USA's failure to include Poland in the Visa Waiver Programme. It is a shame, I agree. Unfortunately, I don't have enough clout to resolve. I hope to see a change for the better soon. Right now, I'm happy for the fact that my GF was given a 10 yr. visa. I hope it can be easy for everyone who tries.
