I am building houses in Poland.

I am currently researching alternative energy sources and possible E.U. funding.

If you have any suggestions, comments or quires, just post them on here.

Thanks.

Solar panels on roofs are the obvious choice.

That is exactly what I ma looking at now.
For electricity and for hot water.
My brother (in Ireland) got 70% of the cost back from the E.U.
I read in a recent interview with the Major of the town where I am building that they have a Swiss/Norwegian funding of such environmental projects, his lawyers having gone through several E.U. subsidy schemes, thought this was the best way.

A friend of mine in Lithuania has a thermal heating system run off a large pond in his garden.

Isnt their some kind of system in place to drill deep into the land several probes which generate heat from the earth?

Yes I have heard about this from a mate but I have no idea how to go about it.
Sounds good, using the magma heat.
I have done a geological survey on the ground but I would imagine it is not enough for the depth of the holes needed for such a system?.

its only 2 meters underground about..
in winter time it makes the temperature few degree higher and in summer time it works like aircondition and it lowers temp inside house.
University of Agriculture in Wrocław has some development about it..if i remember well the book was called 'Niekonwencjonalne źródła energii' and section was 'Wykorzystanie energii geotermalnej ziemi'.
i think it's very interesting and all system is not to expensive..

I have heard of this one, my friend has it in his house in Lithuania, except in the pond.

He tells me there is another type, that you drill a very deep hole 3km down, he is thinking of getting this also.

I will get someone to look into it for me.

all system is not to expensive..

It cost my friend 40,000 Litas (which is about the same as Zloty now) and he says it will pay off in 9 years.
He did not get any money from the E.U. or anybody else.

I also heard about running the hot water pipes in a figure 8 and 2 metres under the ground also, but not sure about any info on this.
