Rules for buying property in Poland as a foreigner

Goodday,

I have been living in Krakow for about 2 months now and I am renting a flat.
Because of the high cost of this (double the average netto salary in Poland), I feel that is would be more useful to buy an apartment then to pay the loan of someone else each month.

Are there any regulations for non-Polish residents when it comes to buying property here (like for instance being resident for x years before being able to buy something).

I don't see how letting prices can be so high here in Krakow when you take the salary in consideration.

Anyone who can give any advice on this subject, would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the link scarbyirp.

Do you also happen to know what the prices for flats in the Krakow area might be?
Is it useful to have extra features on the flat etc...

Thanks

hello dxx,

Great Idea to pay your own mortgage rather than someone elses.
I don't remember if you speak Polish or not?
There is a magazine in most kiosks and shops called "Nieruchomości", there are lots of flats and houses in there for sale.

And here are a list that a helpful PF member (eleanoroconner) made: Where to look on the internet for Polish Real Estate

How has your move been?
Starting to get chilly now.

Heya Sean,

Nice to hear from you again!
Yeah, the move has gone quite smoothly and Im getting to know the city by now.
Found a place in Bronowice which is close to work and very quiet!
I don't speak Polish (yet) but would love to learn soon!
Thanks for the tip and lemme know if u wanna have a pint some time ;-)

One thing I would point out about Krakow is that a small flat in the centre is the same price as a house just out side of the centre.
It is worth looking at where the new motorways are being built and buy a house with a garden near it.
Of course traffic will be a problem until the motorways are complete but it is worth looking at, still some good deals to be had.

Best of luck
