The meaning of a gift in a lovely bag - given after Valentines day?

I was given a gift in a lovely bag, the other day. Inside this bag there was a beautiful cup, saucer, cake plate set in a box wrapper with a pink ribbon. Also in this bag, was a huge box of chocolates, TWÓJ SEKRET , it's called, and a basic Polish language course

I was given these things the day after Valentines day. I know the language course was bought on Valentines, I believe the other things were brought back from Poland after New Years. They could have been bought here, but seriously doubt it. We live in a small town. Now, my mother likes this man, but is afraid we are too different and his family wouldn't accept me if we were to become more than friends. We constantly flirt, talk and laugh together and I've fallen for him. He's even become godfather to our niece, my niece! My mother makes him nervous and if he would have brought me that big gift bag and those goodies on Valentines day, she would have flipped! We're both adults, but there is a lot more to this whole thing.

What do you think his gift meant, if anything at all?

I think that you are trying to over-analyse things - it's just a gift.

And really, you are - as you say - an adult. What does it matter what she thinks, unless you are into some kind of kinky threesome with her....

sounds like he really likes you and wants you to learn some Polish.. perhaps over a cup of tea or coffee and cakes with him. He has clearly put some thought into this gift. Ignore your mother and follow your heart.

That's very sweet !! I'd say that gift is quite romantic to fall in the 'friendship' category hehe chocolates ;P It seems like he likes you more than just friends(I may be wrong but from my experience, that's what I think). maybe he wants you to cook some cake for him lol If you feel some sort of attraction for him, let him know, it's worth the chance. He obviously cares for you. Don't let your mommie intervene with your life in such way that it could destroy a friendship, love relationship or whatever just for her silly thoughts. As adults, you're both grown up!! It's ok to have a close person near you that is different, it is ok to fall for someone with different lifestyle or whatever. What would the world be if everybody was the same? to me -A pathetic boring world!!. What matter is that you flirt, laugh, share a good time with each other. Cheers!!

I'm going to have to agree with Saphire & Jestesjedyny. I know he likes me. The 'relationship' is a lot more complicated than I revealed, but God willing, everything works out. Just tonight we were laughing about a meal I made. It was a simple meal for Lent, I usually make more elaborate things. He joked that he couldn't believe I could actually make something so simple. Then he said it was too salty, and very spicy with pepper. I know this isn't true, because he loves pepper. I was worried I didn't put enough. He teases like a schoolboy. It's cute.

It sounds like a lovely gift, like he really put some thought into it. The pink ribbon and the kitchen items make me think that he is seeing you as feminine and not like just any ordinary friend.

You're not the first adult to have a parent like yours but if you don't do what you really want despite your mother, you're going to look back at your life someday and regret that you didn't choose love when it was there and when you had the chance.

I'm choosing love, and God willing, we'll someday be able to share a wonderful life together.
