I asked my wife (a native Pole) this question and she reckons that Poles have always liked Americans/Canadians :o)

It seems it's a dream for many Poles to move to the US or Canada.

Thats an interesting observation and one I've noticed myself, amongst a certain type of Pole but by no means all

In my opinion it is due to the fact that America contains many Poles.

For many Poles, the US is seen as the land of opportunity .... a place where if they work hard, they can be rewarded handsomely.

Obtaining a 'Green Card' is quite hard, so finally getting one is seen as a great achievement; there was a programme a few years ago on Polish tv, called 'Zielona Karta' (Green Card) which followed the lives of Poles who had won Green Cards via the Immigration Lottery. If I remember correctly, nearly all who had been awarded their green cards said they had a better life, materialistically than if they had stayed in Poland.

_was_ - it is the past now... - it's the past since the moment we joined EU and can work in places like UK, IE etc.

I don't know anybody who would even consider moving to the US nowadays.

Question was clear - What nation Poles like the most?

Serbians are Poles and Poles are Serbians. We are one Sarmatian nation which represents original West. We are artificially classified as two nations, after conquerors from false west established their rule. So, Serbs are out of question for this topic, because Poles obviously aren’t masochists or suicidal and they like themselves.

In other words, i would be insulted if somebody say that likes Serbs, here

I think the myth is wearing out.

As an old adage goes, some Poles thin streets in America are paved with gold. When they come to the US they see the streets are not paved with gold. Soon they realize there are some streets which are not paved at all, and they are the ones expected to pave them.

When an average Pole goes to the US on a tourist visa then... let's no kid ourselves - many have only enough doe to get from JFK to Green Point, or from O'Hare to wherever it is in Chicago that "tourists" sleep 5 to a room. It's all about making some quick cash and returning where people work to live, instead of living to work.

It used to work and some advanced their financial status really well. Now it's harder and harder, especially that PLN/USD ain't what it used to be.

im quite sure they are fond of republic and northern ireland because they are well accepted here. the countries have experianced the same type of things. i have met lots of poles who love it here and dont plan to go back to poland. :)
