Need the title to a Polish film. Anyone?

I recently began watching a Polish film but never saw the end of it. And would like to finish it but don't know the title. It appeared to be made in the 80's(sort of disco-like). All I can remember is that the characters were going to steal an elephant from the zoo for their friend. And that everyone around me kept raving that this was the most ground-breaking film from Poland for it's time. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
