Polish birthdays? How do you celebrate it in Poland?

Hi ya, I am not sure if this is the rite place for me to ask, but anyway there u go!
my polish bf's gonna haf his birthday soon
he's not gonna be in poland with his family and fds etc
n it seems to me that he misses home a bit lately
so I just wanna no how's a traditional polish bday like?
like how do u celebrate it? any special food that can be prepared or found in uk?
