Pekin New York? Pekin North Dakota? OR the 400 YEAR OLD name for Beijing? source: The term Peking originated with French missionaries four hundred years ago and corresponds to an older pronunciation predating a subsequent sound change in Mandarin from [kʲ] to [tɕ][11] ([tɕ] is represented in pinyin as j, as in Beijing). before you go butcher threads, learn how to spell.

hey mods...since when does my thread about CANADA get stuffed into "Polish Sports" when it has nothing to do with Polish sports?? this has to do with the Olympics in CHINA!! There are other Olympic threads in the "off topic lounge" and... what sports are unique to Poland??
