I didn't see it. I was busy elsewhere. I did expect Germany to win, so no big shock.

Poland looked very average today. I wouldnt be suprised if they lost all their games. As much as i dont like to say it.

Poland were starting to get into the game and then the second goal killed them off.
after that they looked like they wanted the final whistle.

Sorry for having an opinion BB, was actually being complimentary and only telling it as i saw it. here's the alternative version, just for you BB ok!.....

A brazilianesque hollandesque total football german performance full of samba flair and guile, such was their dominance, Lehmann had time to do a striptease, whilst impersonating Kahn and flipping hotdogs on the stand he'd erected on the goaline...much to the amusement of all involved.......

In all seriousness (BB please note the above is supposed to be light hearted humour now) I agree about the second goal, it did kill off any way back for them, and for BB's benefit once again, I thought Germany were good value for their win.

I only looked at the full squad a week or two ago and was surprised at the number of "regular" names that were missing and more than a little confused as to why Jop and Zurawski were called up. The most glaring thing was the absence of any strikers.

Poland tried to ride their luck in the opening minutes, did'nt learn and got caught. They were making some good penetrations down the right and needed a good presence in the box (that is, NOT Zurawski - and I don't consider Smolarek a striker, more a winger). They played better towards the end of the 1st half and again were better in the 2nd half. The linesman got the offside call against Smolarek wrong but the defensive fiasco led to the 2nd goal. Too often Poland made some inroads on the flanks and then took forever to get the ball in to the box, something Germany did much more quickly and clinically.

Watched Croatia earlier today, very tidy team with a bit of devil about them. I can't see where Poland's goals will actually come from going off tonight's performance and will do well to get a result from the croats imo.

Bring on Austria I say ;-) (no Austrians lurking around here I hope)

Apart from a chronic defense and finishing abilities, Poland played well and looked good today. They passed well and created some awesome chances but they just failed in finishing it off. Germany were there for the taking, especially in the second half but Poland just couldn't put the ball in the net.

Really they will need to work with the D though because at one point it looked like a bunch of 5 year olds chasing the ball.

I thought the Germans deserve some acknowledgement though for the great display of diving abilty (sorry BB :) shown in the second half. Hollywood will surely be calling :)

Germany, top 4 in the world?? What do you want? 2 goals isn't that bad of a spread.

Klose's pop kicked for Poland.. it's a shame he won't.

Watching the game in the US today, one of the commentators touched on the fact that Klose and Poldoski often talk to each other on the field in Polish. I thought that would be a good tactic in many games, but it wouldn't have worked today! Maybe speaking in German would be safer! hehe :)

You gotta love Poldi though! Such a cutie!

That's true, Poldi and Klose usually talks to each other in Polish, but they promised they wouldn't during that game ;)

Every second thing our commentators said was about Podolski being born in Poland (Gliwice I believe). Apparently he's had mixed feelings about scoring against Poland though. So maybe he needs to sort out in his head who he actually wants to play for...he is cute though ;)

They were expecting that. It's nothing to do with football though. It's idiots using football as an excuse to be violent and destructive.

Yup, could happen in any country. i live near the center of Krakow, and up till then, it was Polish fans singing backing there team after loss. Of course some idiots had to spoil it. 2 weeks before Uefa inspect the stasiums, i hope its not widespread.

My Dad called me and said "do you see his tears?" and in the replay its obvious. Maybe not tears as such but he did "well up". Very odd.
