Which nation will top the Olympic medal table?

It has to be China IMO, the super power status will informally switch at this games.

USA for 2nd
France around 6th
GB 10th perhaps
Poland should be around 22nd

Just some off the top of the head stats, no googling.

I think the US first, then China...
Where's Russia? :) Don't you count us?

China already announced some months back that they want to rule the medal table and make some kind of record.
And regarding the tortorous regime their athletes are objected to (not to mention lot's of scientific/medical help) I can't see how the western sport will have a chance against these ideological warriors in sport pants...

Cold war Olympics anybody???

China first
(any other country a far back second...)

...anyway I'm not watching and ignoring it!

The medal table says NOTHING about "super power status"
The GDR and also the USSR used to lead the medal count (also with lot's of scientific and medical help mind you).
Both nations don't exist anymore...the "weaker/not so successful" West does! :)

How far along are we on the war of undetectable steroid abuse.

China will beat the US this time.

China probably wins the medal grab. The opening ceremony was very impressive too.

Me too. Looking at those poor people sweating in that nasty smog... I'm not that cruel.

WB, why didn't you make a poll out of that topic? ...it'd be fun...

And how does it relate to me ? Are you suggesting I'm a savage ?

Do I have to know all the answers just because I and the woman you talk about are holders of a passport with the same eagle on it ? Besides people are sentenced for such things in Poland, believe it or not.

If I wanted a fight BB i'd just talk about the battle of Britian, and superior British plains (at short notice) as it is i'll let you sleep well with the fact that despite the best German efforts planned and enginered since the early 30's you still couldn't muster anything better than a small portion of Europe.

We conquored the world you merely attempted a follow on and failed.

I didn't want to say anything...a foreign language is hard!

I just figured he had been drinking! :)

Yep, those "die, der and das" articles can be downright pesky at times!
I once imagined myself making a big pile of them and crunching them under my boot! But Bratski says one eventually comes to tolerate them, if not to love them! I'm still trying! *grins*

I always thought the article paired with the last word in a compound word, such as Bratwurstboy?

Are you kidding about the mixing thing?
