There is a few in the Old Town but they are tourist rip-offs, but the food is good.

I would recommend Podhale, which is at the end of ul.Podwale. That street runs down the side of the Old Town with the Old Town on your right. the restaurant has the sign of a cartoon pig on the outside. You will need to book though as it is always busy.

Another excellent one is Grand Kredens on Jerozolimskie.

Not Polish, but Balkan, I would highly recommend Banja Luka on Pulawska ( 10 min taxi from the centre). The food is meat based and the platters are out of this world. So is the fish and all starters. I guarantee you will go back again. The price is also very reasonable.

Enjoy.

Traditional before the Iron Curtain fell... try a Milk Cafe, and there are some still around Warsaw.

Extrapolated from DK Eyewitness Travel Poland, c.2007

Old and New Towns area...

Kompania Piwna Podwale 25

Tel 022 635 63 14

"An Old Town gem with a courtyard designed to resemble a Central European town square and an interior filled with wooden benches and drinking slogans on the walls. Heaps of meat and potatoes come served on wooden boards by staff dressed in traditional attire. One of the few low-budget success stories in the Old Town"

Merged: Nice restaurants that serve fine traditional Polish cuisine in Warsaw?

Hello everyone,

I will be in Warsaw for an international congress for 4 days at the end of April. Since I'm interested in different cuisines, I prefer to try local traditional cuisine of the country I travel to. I would like to taste good Polish traditional food in Warsaw. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

There are a lot of traditional Polish restaurants to be found all over Warszawa.

Try this one, for example:

Bar Mleczny Prasowy
MarszaƂkowska 10/16, 00-590

It was rated 3.2 stars.

Enjoy!

Our two favorite restaurants for traditional polish cuisine are Tradicja Polska and the Belvedere. The Belvedere is located in my favorite park, Lazienki Park, which is worth a stroll after dinner.

Have never eaten there but have heard good reports about the Honoratka restaurant (good food, large selection, reasonable prices, nice interior) in Miodowa street in Old Town.

Yes, but a milk bar is not a restaurant, let alone a 'nice' restaurant, the food they serve is not 'fine' and posting rubbish to foreigners who know no better is neither clever nor funny: all it does it lower the reputation of Poland, so grow up!
