I am visiting Szczecin in September for a wedding,it's the first time i have visited Poland and i would like to know how widely is English spoken in this city and is communication going to be a big problem? I have been told the wedding lasts for 2 days and there's a lot of vodka involved. I would be gratefull for any advice.

When at the table grab a glass of water, drink half immidietly. When vodka is served take all vodka into your mouth, do not swallow but fill up your water glass instead.
Start drinking when 50% of guest are drunk. Don't eat much of anything, more dishes are comming. Never refuse when asked for a dance. To make good impression ask someone to dance with you.

I see you have edited your reply. Good choice.

There will be a fair amount of people speaking English in Szczecin, since it is a uni city, plus- it is visited by quite a large number of Swedes and German tourist.

I used to teach English in Szczecin, so I hope all my efforts haven't gone down the drain. LOL

I was looking at flights to Szczecin earlier today - I could fly with Ryan Air for the grand sum of £23.50 including surcharges and taxes. Very tempting indeed...

Thanks Miranda that's quite reassuring.
