Internet Banking in Poland

Does anyone have any experience with virtual banking on the internet here in Poland? Any recommendations? I would like to transfer my dollars to Poland and convert them to złoty, so anyone with this experience could be very helpful - a simple savings account will suffice. Thanks!

Before posting, I did such a search to no avail. In fact, a second search of the keywords "internet bank" now brings up one thread - this one!

I did search with "transfer" and "money transfer" and "transfer money", and there are some results, but in short, it seems like Citibank is popular because it operates both in US and in Poland, and their Polish branch has a website in English:

virtual banking on the internet here in Poland

I use Bank Zachodni www.bzwbk.pl and find them to be fine, they have excellent internet banking facilities in English. With regard to your transfer if the amount is over say $5000 you should use a Foreign Exchange company, go with one of the major players as within the current economic climate nothing is for sure. A larger company will have protective measures in place such as ringed accounts to guarantee your funds.

I have opened banking account last month and "just in case" in two polish banks.My goal was to trade currency so i went through all offers and only and only bank with fully online service is ING Bank Slaski ,there is some limitations but after all,this is the best offer.Since I live in Canada and now seating in Toronto trading currency in Poland ...not bad it cost me one visit in Poland(a must) some breaking ice questions and here you go.Any question you can email me rudy102@sympatico.ca

I use both Citibank and Bank Zachodni. I'm not sure what is supposed to happen with Citi's Polish operations now that they have dissintegrated on a global level. I suspect that they will spin-off what they have in Poland and you may end up with an account with a bank you are not comfortable with. Besides, their internet banking is rubbish.

Bank Zachodni has a very good web interface that is pretty simple to use.

You will have to appear at the banks in person, no on-line applications. Also look into regulations regarding transfering money out of Poland. It is simple enough to get the USDs in, but to wire a large sum out of the country you may need permission.

Whatever bank you choose, I suggest opening both a USD and PLN accounts with them. You can just transfer between your 2 accounts without ever leaving the bank. If this is a large amount of money you can actually go and negotiate a fairly competitive exchange rate.

mBank are also worth a shout if you're in Poland, simply for the lack of fees and ease of use.

I have been using Zachodni bank and have had an endless amount of problems. Due to restrictions on amounts one can transfer, it is only good for small sums (under $35,000). I had enough USD to buy a property and was unable to transfer this amount from a current account into a single deposit account (had to open about 8). When I wanted to transfer my dollars out of the account, too many times I was led to believe my funds were transferred when, in fact, they were not. I was also unable to close my account and get all the funds transferred at once unless I appeared in person. For small amounts in PLN, paying bills, etc, this bank is fine. Personally, I am now looking for an alternative bank which is what brought me here.
