Car stereo thieves - is this a problem in Poland?

greth   Sep 4, 09, 21:58 /  #
Hello, i was thinking of getting a nice stereo in my car, just a couple speaker, a subwoofer and a couple amps.
My friends tell me not to do it because even if i will install it so that it will not be visible and seem like a standard stereo, people that will here loud music coming from my car will follow me, wait until i park and steal my stereo. Is this exaggerated or should i avoid getting a decent stereo in my car?

Maybe forget about getting a sterio in the car, simply get a hand held device then you can play loud music, and have no need the park, thus illiminating the prospects of you having to park your car and have your new sterio stolen. Problem solved I think.

The Germans had an old saying about the Polish but the emphasis should be on old. It's not such an issue these days apparently.

An old Polish exchange student told us there was a saying which roughly translated was:

"Come visit Poland, you're car is already here!"

There was another one (crude translation): "Just stolen, already in Poland".

It is rumoured that all Polish thieves relocate to UK ;)

I haven't seen any glass pieces for a long time. In my area luxury cars staying overnight on the street. Loud music coming from car isn't rarity. Rather car thieves dismantling cars for mechanical or body spare parts is a problem.

What a non-issue. You know that Poles steal everything that even slightly looks Western.

The German joke is: In Schweden gibt es Schwedisches Stahl, In Deutschland Krupps-Stahl und in Polen diebstahl.

(In Sweden you got Swedish steel, in Germany Krupps steel and in Poland they steal)

That's it, M-G. A German guy told me just last Sunday in Kaunas but I couldn't remember how it went. Being Dutch, you have a better feel for German than I do. My German is pretty shabby.

Peter, he told me that one too. Pretty funny.

It's a pretty old one. Heard it for the first time about 20 years ago.

Seanus

In fact I heard it from a Dutchman who had a German girlfriend.

Nonsense... But obviously If you start flashing everbody around with some expensive audio equipment there'a a risk that some day (or night) somebody will steal It.

Wheelcaps and rims.. sometimes they break the windows and check if there's a radio panel in the gloves compartment

1.4, I have to share my second child with 3 of my neighbours. It's rule. We have to keep the average alive.

I wouldn't worry about it, I had a fairly good system in a few of my cars and never got anything stolen,

How come you are after such a big setup? a decent set of component speakers behind the standard grills would sound nearly as good as a sub and amp,

Hm, Poles use additives where they don't have to and don't use them where they have to. Makes it easy to recognize them :)

Did I say additives? Of course I meant adjectives.
