cheaper international calling from Poland

John5951   Apr 2, 07, 15:35 /  #
Is there a cheaper way to make international calls from Poland then with the regular mobile providers?

I am talking about carrier providers. For example here in the Netherlands I can dial 0900-xxxxxx in front of a number (various providers), and then I can call to Poland for 9 cents/minute, instead of the 1 euro/minute my own provider charges me.

Cheap international calls... hmm probably only voip, skype etc.. if you have kinda smartphone you can use skype on your cell. One thing... only in bigger cities you could use edge or umts... gprs is almost everywhere but it's too slow for skype.

Maybe European Commision will make sth with that expensive international calls soon... I heard they're working on it.

We have Voip in the US and for $14.95 per month plus taxes we get free calls to Europe and Canada and well as all calls within the US are covered.

Is Voip the same/similar there? We will be living in Krakow for two years beginning in August and I'd like to start getting info on this kind of thing now.

The Service I use is call ConnectMeAnywhere

You can make cheap calls without using premium numbers so I can use my mobile phone. They also allow you to send voice emails which is pretty cool.

Someone asked about the VOIP service I wrote about, above.

Ours is Vonage. We get the deal as stated or we can go over our allotted monthly minutes for a top fee of $24.95 per month. We haven't had to do that yet, though, and we've had it a year and a half. I call long distance frequently--every other day or so, with calls averaging 20 mins each time, or more, and we've yet to go over the limit.

I was told (and it says in our paperwork from them) that we get free long distance to all of Europe with this plan. My husband has made a number of calls to Brussels, Belgium and Manchester, UK and we were not charged for those calls.

You have to already have broadband internet to use the service and that costs us about $60 per month. But we "needed" it for better internet service and Xbox Live already, so we already had it hooked up.

If you have the internet I would try Vonage, i pay £6.99 per month for unlimited calls to the uk and 2p per minute to other countries and have an english landline number with a proper normal telephone plugged in and it is really clear. You simply get a box which plugs into a spare port on your router which gives you a telephone plug.

I am not resident in Poland, so I cannot take anything that requires monthly payment.

I saw at some "sklep" they told me to buy Telegrosik but I never heard about them before, so I didn't buy.

I of course look for an international calling card with good tariffs and that doesn't rip you off with a lot of hidden fees.

smartvoip.com has some incredible rates!

0.01 eur and 0.03 eur per minute to most of the mobile phones worldwide, and free for many landlines worldwide. I wonder if there is any catch to it? Did anyone try it?

You can use pingo from any country to any country.

Toll free number in Poland is 008001212003.

Fees to Switzerland from Poland:
To Switzerland anywhere landline - 0,152 PLN
To Switzerland Orange - 0,88 PLN
To Switzerland Zurich - 0,136 PLN

Not sure if the rates are good. I mainly use Pingo to call India.

So Pingo has good calling quality? I need some sort of card? Because when i try to register on Pingo, they ask for a CallingCard number and a pin number, which are required fields.

And obviously I dont have them. Also redeem coupons... Help

I assume the general calling quality is very good - it's comparably fantastic when I call India (cellphone or landline).

You make up your own Pingo Account # and PIN (those are your log-in details).

PinPass - once you put in a phone number(s) from which you make the outgoing calls, there will be no need to punch in Pingo Acct and PIN (automatic detection).

As for coupons - look for them in google (e.g here couponmountain.com/Pingo-coupons-deals.html)

I tried to call the PINGO Toll free number in Poland, and it is not allowed to call that number from a public phone (yellow TP phones).

So from where do you call the toll free number?

Maybe it is written wrong on the PINGO website? Can you help?

Thanks!
