czesc.

i'm an asian girl marrying a polish guy. does anybody of you know what they ask at the office (what's that office called again?) when we submit our papers for a civil wedding? where is this office in gdansk? is it true that they will require me to speak polish? i speak a little polish - i do hope that they will consider that.

also, i've read from somewhere in the internet that this paper (like a marriage license/wedding permit) can only be used 30 days after. is it hard to get an appointment from the office/schedule for a civil wedding in gdansk?

appreciate your help. dziekuje bardzo.

the office is called Urząd Stanu Cywilnego - I don't know any meaningful translation of the name into English or any possible English counterpart to it

I also don't know answers to your other questions

I am just reading info on civil wedding

it says what you need to do is to visit Registrar's Office (USC - Urząd Stanu Cywilnego)
at least 30 days before the date you want the wedding to take place bringing with you your passport, birth cirtificate (official short form of it not necessarily the original) from the country of your origin as well as some paper to certify that you are elligible to get married (i.e you aren't married elsewhere ) - the latter needs to be from the country you are citizen of - it should be issued by the office which is the counterpart of Polish Urząd Stanu Cywilnego in your country/

you also need to sign a declaration that there are no obstacles for you to get married (i.e. you are free), decide whose surname you (and your offspring from the marriage) are gonna carry and finally pay fee for the wedding which is under 100 zl)

then you can appoint for the wedding ceremony (usually takes place in the same office)

USC in Gdańsk is located in city hall in the city centre - Nowe Ogrody 8/12 - the office is open 8am til 4pm on working days

You also have to get those papers translated by a sworn translator. Something like 30zl/page in case of Asian languages.

They said that the ceremony will take in place in a "palace." Is that true?

How does this palace look like? Is there a website where I can check how the building looks like inside and out?

Dziekuje bardzo =)
