Daily comute from Warsaw to Lodz

Hello all of you out there .... I want to know your thoughts of commuting daily from Warsaw to Lodz to work I know some of the locals do that from Lodz to Warsaw. I myself think is a bit of a pain but dont really want to move to Lodz so guess will have to take the trip there and back at least is just 1.5 hours now before was 3.something... Any ideas how to kill time on the train and how early I have to wake up everyday to make to the office at 9 Thanks

Sorry I should have been specific, I meant what job are you doing in Lodz...I only ask because I would love to move to Poland (to Lodz) but work is difficult and I assume you are English and I wondered what you do. :> I have alot of friends in Lodz, I'll be back there in 2 weeks. :) I can't really help with the question except to recommend you take a laptop and watch movies/study something/listen to music.

I see I work in IT depends what you do... you can find a job thing is the pay is lousy ... also helps if you can speak some other language then English ... Polish is not a must otherwise you want to sell kepaps or something If you want some work I may can hook you up who know`s I may need someone to share a flat there or something in case the commute will be too harsh . I was in your home town after the floods few years back did some work for the Met Police there getting their IT staff back on ... I am not English tough ...

I think yuo'd better find a flat in Łódź or a job in Warsaw. Commuting from Łódź to Warsaw makes sense because in Warsaw earnings and cost of living is generally higher. But the other way round it doesn't make too much sense: lower earnings + more expensive accommodation. zion: Any ideas how to kill time on the train and how early I have to wake up everyday to make to the office at 9 It depends how far from the station you live and how far you office is from Łódź Fabryczna. Anyway, it'll be much too early...

That sounds great. I work in IT too or I have done in the past, I mainly do hospitality management but I know hardware and all Windows and Mac OS's like the back of my hand. I looked into some flats and there is a woman on here who has one ready shortly. I can give you the contact details if you want. I also know the city to a degree. My home town? You mean Ambleside? :)

I wouldn't rely on the train for such a commute - PKP are hardly known for their reliability. If you were driving, it's probably doable - but by train will just be too risky to rely on. ....and you really don't want to be going anywhere near Łódz! (sorry, personal hatred showing through :P)

Hey cjjc I was wrong about your city sorry ... about the job hospitality management that is a bit in what I would work on it if i take the job in Lodz well one of then I have other offer also that I would like more The job is in support anyway I will see if the other offer work out I give you the details of this one . Well I will try to get Warsaw salary for this job shit is I will have to pay lodz monthly bus pass and warsaw monthly bus pass plus the train monthly pass also all and all will go to around 600 zl a month for transport alone . anyway this will be my last shoot after 2 years here the job thing is not working the pay still way too low !!!!!

Trains leave every hour and go fast. I heard this is the most profitable PKP connection, so maybe that's why it's so good...

Well wages are better in the UK but nobody wants to employ at the moment, I cannot find a job and I have good qualifications. I have had 6 or 7 letters all telling me the same thing... I was thinking about studies in Łódź and then part time job then I will have to work only for money for social life as rent is included with the course costs.
