Hi All

Its good so see so many Indians active on this forum.Great going.
I'll be coming to Warsaw for Procter and Gamble in May 08.
I would definitely need all your advices about living in Warsaw and would definitely like to meet you guys as well.
First problem is accomodation.I am looking for a fully furnished(Internet, stove, set kitchen , washing machines etc) apartment for myself.
1) How much will it cost?
2) Is it easily available near the centre of Warsaw(as my office is near the centre)
If this is not the right forum to answer such question, please guide me to another one.

Thanks a lot
Hemendra

Hey, Welcome in poland.

I know how should ?I welcome you in Poland. After all I am from india. Currently we r in Wroclaw. And we will move on 2 May 08. So we can not meet u. But I may share my experience in poland.

1] Compare to India food prizes are very high here in Poland.
2] On an avarage a person needs 25 to 30 ZL Per day if you take break fast, luncha and dinner. (Again it depends on the type of restaurant
3] If you r alone, then be sure that u will not talk to any drunk person.
4] People with out alcoholic effect r very helpful here in wroclaw.
5] Try to learn some common polish words from the online sites. Only few people speak enhlish here.
6] if u r vegeterian, then u r down like us. Come prepare and bring some MTR food packets. Try to remmeber polish words for different kind of meat.
7] Polish people drink less water compare to indians. Do remmeber that u need to buy water here.
8] Very important. . Communication from poland is very costly compared to India and US. We brought airtel world calling cards. But then u need tp communication cards here. Best way is to activate yahoo voice account. Its very cheap. 4 Rs / min india. But u need internet connection for it.

9] Some common polish dishes that will help,.. Plaski (pan cackes), peirogi (Something like modak), nelesniki (swwet), Gyros(turkey restaurants).

Hope this will be helpful..... Take some euros with u. I have never seen anyone transacting in euros here in Poland.

hahahahaha this made me laugh!

Have you come across many drunks in wroclaw?? If you think wroclaw has lots of drunks, you should take a trip to a smaller town/village! LOL

Anshorya Welcome in Poland! That's the way how it's here- small salaries, high prices. Better get use to it and like real Polish try to connect your money with polish reality. My fiance is from New Delhi and he was also not nicely surprised with polish prices when first time came here around 1 year ago.
All the best for you and your family!

Dear One:

Hye! I was reading your message and I would like to tell you that for Artificial Jewellary the whole Europe will welcome you. But be aware of the competition, because the China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korean buyers/suppliers will give you a very tough comepetition.

I have a suggestion, why dont you contact IIG Education Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (sorry I dont remember their website address, but you can easily found them in Google search). my younger brother has taken their services and now he is doing business in Poland. I think they are real professionals. Rest you can talk with them.

I wish you best of luck.

Regards!

Thats what embassies around the world are like genious. As soon as you step foot onto embassy soil you are in that country's property, not Polish. They legally own the very earth their building sits on. Thats how all embassies are. Get used to it.

Nowy Targ...why do you care? Yes I'm Polish. You should just leave this forum and go join the anti-indian forums somewhere else.

The Polish people here like to respect others, obviously something you have trouble with.

Hi all,

I need some perspective from you all.
I am an Indian traveling to Poland with my Polish wife. We will be primarily staying in Krakow because that is where her family hails from.
How much do you guys think a Project manager / IT manager can make in Poland ?
Do any of you, have industry contacts or know recruiters that can make our transition smoother ?
We want to live there for a while and I want to make sure we can make enough money to support us comfortably.
I am looking forward to networking with everybody here.

Thank you

Hello Saurab,

I did not wish to write here but after seeing your post i felt i must write. The information you provide here is incorrect and outdated though at one time this is waht we were taught at school. Modern research disputes this claim of Aryan and Dravidian Divide. This is more a theory floated by the british to divide and rule India. There are several books that in fact show of a reverse flow. In sanskrit the words Arya and Arye are words to address a male or female respectively same like Mr. and Mrs. in english. Aryan is not a race. Please be clear on this. It means one of good upbringing and hence respectful. Aryan started being used as a race due to Max Mueller who first translated the Vedas into English. Later the Hitler and the Nazis used it to mean a race. In India it does not mean race.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Madan

I am posting in this message to share all your views in terms of settling in Poland for people outside Europe. I can see there are a lot of people from the subcontinent in here discussing their issues. All I want to ask them…. is how they feel an outsider fits in to a different culture of Poland. I am an Australian with Indian background, and have been to Poland many times, as a matter of fact just came back from Poland a couple of weeks back. To be honest this trip was a bit disappointing for me in terms of the life style and the cost of living that Poland offers to its People. Even though it is EU, I still find the overall cost of living very high for the amount people earn in there. Please don’t get me wrong here, I love Poland. It’s a gr8 place to holiday but to settle in there for good scares the hell out of me. My better half is from Poland and wants me to pack my bags and move in there in a couple of years or at least close to Europe. Please do put in your outlook and comments in this matter in terms of professional life, work culture and overall lifestyle in Poland and how conducive is it for an outsider to settle in there and how open the job market is it in Poland. All I could see is…… Warsaw is the only place happening professionally and could see couple of foreign nationals doing well in there. Your comments and view point will be deeply appreciated.

Cheers
Amit

Hello Amit,

Settling down in Poland is not a bad idea. However the biggest problem foreign nationals face here is the langauge issue. Depending on what you are doing, if you have any amount of interaction with local people your language skills in Polish would be needed and without them you will find it very difficult. If your job profile requires you to know the local language, getting a job will be very tough. Furhter if you are doing business, i dont see how you will succeed without being good at the langague! Mostly all businessmen here of Indian descent speak the language with varying degrees of proficiency. Poland has been growing well enough and will continue to do so despite the recession in the USA. Being an ex communist country it has not really integrated well into either Europe or US or any other part which in the current situation is an advantage. Since Poland joined the EU it has started to develope various sectors like the Computer segment and the financial sector. Poland has a fairly young and well educated population. There is ample scope in the hotel segment or restaurant business. Incomes have been growing and will continue to grow. In the Financial Sector for example anyone having done the Financial Advisor exam even if he/she is 21 years old would start with 5000 PLN net. Growth prospects are enormous however the way of doing business here is different and it takes time to learn the basics. The basics start with learning the language. If you are Indian it will help you to get in touch with the IAP and the IPCC. Do your research well and dont treat Poland like cake walk. Even if you are very well educated do your research. You will be surprised to know how many poles are well qualified. Fortunately most are abroad (in terms of a job search). Eliminates competition.

Hope this helps.

Hello Sudhir,

Can you give more information about this company you mention in your post, namely IIG Education Consultancy PVT LTD? Is it possible to get in touch with your brother to get more information on how they work and how satisfied he is? The website does not give much information. They seem to be primarily into education. It talks nothing on what contacts they have in Poland, What presence and why one would take them seriously. Do they have polish experts or polish language speaking skills? What familiarity with the Law etc etc.

Regards,

Mash
