Hi Hemendra,

Where have you moved to Warsaw from? What do you do in Poland? What kind of meetings are you looking for. If you want to network with Indians you can look for the Indian Association of Poland or for the Indo Polish cultural Committee.

hello Sunil,

A 3 room flat, will be approximately 2500 PLN in Warsaw. If you are looking to be near the Indian community then most of them stay in Ursynow which is a reasonably decent locality to live in, just that it is far from centrum. However due to metro connectivity it takes only about 20 minutes to reach the centre. Cook you will not find here.

Regards,

Mash.

You will be surprised to know how many poles are well qualified. Fortunately most are abroad (in terms of a job search). Eliminates competition

First off why surprised? Poland isn't a developing country!!! Also you will be surprised how many Polish people are now moving back to Poland with further skills learnt in a variety of different European countries...looks like you're completely wrong about the competition!!!!

Hello Shelly,

No i did not mean Poland is a developing country. In fact Poland has a tradition of scientific research and progress. As regards the Polish people moving back, its because the zloty has become so strong that they dont find it worthwhile to work abroad anymore. Having said that, ask foreign investors in the IT sector in Wroclaw and they will tell you that for the investments they made in Poland they hardly have any workers. I was talking to an American Gentelman who was telling me that whereas 2 years back they would receive 100 CV's per recruitment, now they are receiving about 3 or 4. That indicates that the really well qualified Poles still perfer working abroad until and unless they get really good salaries out here. The strong zloty has eroded the profitability of most companies and of Poland as a low cost production and services sector. Cost cutting dosent help as at low costs no one will work. Its a difficult situation for companies. A good situation for employees.

Or maybe that in the past 2 years investment is slowing, and most of the jobs are filled.

Possible Taylor. Unfortunately i dont have any statistics on this so cant comment. The out flow of young poles has however continued with more countries available to work in and choose from.

Correction. What Poland (and all the Warsaw pact countries) had is a tradition of misallocation and waste of resources towards ventures that had nothing to do whatsoever with what consumers and the population at large needed or wanted.

My wife once worked for one of these IT companies in Wroclaw, when she started all the young ladies where just out of uni, she spoke to some of them last week, and out of the 35 she started with, 2 are left. She says that they will like all others look for better paid positions, either in poland or abroad.

Hello PJ,

Below is the list of Nobel Laureates from Poland.

Wisława Szymborska, Literature, 1996
Józef Rotblat*, Peace, 1995
Lech Wałęsa, Peace, 1983
Czesław Miłosz, Literature, 1980
Isaac Bashevis Singer*, Literature, 1978
Tadeus Reichstein*, Physiology or Medicine, 1950
Władysław Reymont, Literature, 1924
Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Physics, 1903 and Chemistry, 1911
Henryk Sienkiewicz, Literature, 1905

As far as my knowledge goes marie Curie is the only one who has recieved a Noble Prize twice. A good feat for a country that has a history of 950 years. The Communist part of Polish History was heaped onto Poland and was not by choice. They did make a choice to overthrow the communist regime, which basically wasted their resources. So i think we must give credit to Poland for scientific progress it made despite upheavels. If I do a little research i think i could quote many other things Poles have done which go unquoted or unnoticed.

I hope you agree that the communist part is not what Poland is about, and consequently communism did not survive in Poland.

Regards,

Mash

Having lived in a handful of huge metropolis, baring Beijing I have never felt at home in any where else as in Poland..

Hi Sudheer, Most obviously your proffessional accomplishments must have been, well, how do I define that, rather incredible; that aids you to mention that with such abandon!! Will that hazard your distaste if me seeks some guidance . Me is a Cost Accountant by profession and working with the largest Engineering co of India, well you might have guessed that; L&T and am thrilled with the idea of working in Europe . How should I go bout it
