Is it easy for a diabetic in Poland?

Hi.

I might get a job in Poland and hence, moving there. To Warsaw.

I currently reside in Sweden, and Sweden has a great health care system, which is good for me, because I'm a diabetic. In Sweden, I don't have to pay for any of the equipment I need, nor the insulin.

How does that kind of thing work in Poland?

Does the state provide insulin, etc. Or does one have to go buy it at a store, like a loaf of bread?

Thanks in advance.

I'm also Swedish (but I don't have diabetes).

I think your Swedish insulin can be send to a pharmacy in Warsaw. I have a friend in Sweden, who lived in England for a while, and the Swedish Apoteket sent her insulin to a pharmacy in England so she could pick it up there. If they can send it to England, they can probably send it to Poland too. Maybe you will have to pay for the transport, but it will probably be much cheaper than buying it all here in Poland.

Since you're not a Polish citizen, I don't think you will get free (or discounted) insulin here. And if you want to buy it here you must get a prescription (recept) from a Polish doctor. But if you want to be sure about the rules, call the Polish Embassy in Stockholm.

Ah, okay.

I didn't know that the "Apotek" sent stuff abroad. If it's not too expensive to pay for the shipping, then that's a really nice solution.

I'll have to check it up. Thanks!
