I am planning on moving to Warsaw in a few months. I hope to get a job soon after arriving. I already have a perminent place to stay (w/ Polish boyfriend). I'm confused about the process of getting permits to stay in the country longer than my 90 days free. Should I apply while I'm in the US or can I do it in Poland? I could be staying any time between 1 year and the rest of my life :) Help me please!

There is a lot of information on the forums about permits. Type "residence permit" into the search box at the top of the page and check out the results.

To stay longer than 90 days legally you need either a job, to start a business in Poland, or be enrolled on a course that counts. The website of the Polish Consulate in NY gives a pretty good summary of what's required for permanent residence:

I don't want to sound pessimistic but currently it is very hard to find a job in Poland, even more if you don't speak polish.

Probably your best chances are as English teacher like most of the foreigners in Poland do, however I guess Warsaw is a little bit saturated with them.

Even if you manage to find one job within this 90-days, the procedures to get your temporary residence can take several months, meaning that at some point you will have to leave the country for some time or stay illegal.

Probably marrying it's not such a bad solution after all...
