Meds in Poland - do they require a prescription?

I am from the Republic of Moldova, and most of the meds here are sold without a prescription. If you have fever or stomach ache, you do not need to see a doctor - you just go to the pharmacy and buy the meds you need. Only few meds require a prescription here, in Moldova, and this is because they present an interest for drug addicted people.

Anyway, I am moving to Gdansk in a few days, and I am just wondering about the situation there. Do all the meds require a prescription in Poland? Can someone please tell me what meds can be bought without a prescription? I am not asking about something in particular, but I would really like to be able to buy some allergy or fever meds without seeing a doctor first. And what about the pain killers?

And I also have another question - would it be a good idea to bring some of the meds with me from Moldova or would it cause problems at the customs? Obviously, I am speaking about small amounts for personal use - just in case something happens.

You can buy many basic drugs without prescription. For example:
- painkillers/against fever (aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen)
- against stomach ulcer/pain (omeprazole)
- against allergy (many different anti-histamines)
- sprays to clear your nose when you have a cold
- etc...
