Poland has killed my inner child

I'm an Englishman (Anglik, Angol?) and I've been in Poland for nearly a year, after marrying a Polish girl.

I've come to the conclusion that I hate this country. It's not just me feeling sorry for myself. This place has killed my inner child.

I feel like a worthless, valueless, useless, piece of trash, in a country that is almost as hopeless as me. It's so bad here that all the Poles are leaving this place for my home country. It's a real pit here. Nothing ever happens.

Any advice, opinions.... abuse... anyone out there would care to throw at me? I'm at the stage now that even abuse would be greatfully received.

Or an attitude adjustment. We make our own happiness in life. To look for it in a place or in another person is futile. It sounds to me like you need to work on yourself, otherwise you will not be happy anywhere.

Hey, you've just made my evening!

Do I get a prize? Maybe a bottle of Leader Price Pils?

OK, have started a new regime of working on myself.

Ommmm..... Ommmmmm....Ommmmm......

If that doesn't work, will reach for a bottle of vodka.

If that is what makes you happy---knock yourself out!

So Maati,
Sounds like you're not all that cheerful tonight?

I live in Wawa. That great wonderful, beautifully hideous conurbation of Wawa.
Sounds like it looks, Wawa....

Entertainment... Hmm. Suggestions?
(To tell the truth, am a little bored of the night clubs and pretty girls, I want something with a bit more substance. Alas substance is what life in this country sadly lacks...)

90% of Poles I know will say that they hate Poland and this country is really hopeless.
"No future for me, no future for you."
What makes you so depressed here?

No solution. That's exactly what about 10 million other men are doing in Poland tonite.
That's why this country is so completely, utterly useless....

That's exactly why I HATE this country so much...

Yes, I live in Warsaw too.
I don't know if I'm cheerful but tired for sure.
And I'm Polish too.

Hey Maati,
Interesting what you say. I don't know if so many Poles say what they think. Mostly they just hide their emotions. In fact that's one of the things I hate here. No one shows any emotions here. It's stony faces all round.

Why am I depressed.
Well here's a few thoughts,
#1 - there's nothing to do here. No social life. No pubs. Just no fun...
#2 - there's no intellectual life. There's so much I was doing in London before moving here. Evening classes, theatre, libraries. It's all completely crap here. My brain is disintegrating... Well gone already I think.
#3 - Everyone is so unhappy. They act as if Poland lost the war. And the communist era, and entry into the European Union. No one has a sense of humour here.

That's just for starters...

Well Miranda,

Why don't you just F Off and go and watch the Kaczynski twins F Up Poland.

I'm sure it will be of more interest to you.

One thing is sure - complaining so much makes you a true Pole

What about your Polish wife? Why she's not going to help you and organise your "intellectual and cultural" life? There is a great alternative club in Mokotów called Pruderia. Some English perverts were playing there on New Years Eve. I love them , really!
They are coming back here for more shows. In M25 we have had Scottish DJs invasion.
I cannot wait to go there and see them again! These clubs are not about pretty girls.

If you are really bored, you always can sign up for my classes too I teach Polish.

(Unfortunately wife has her nose too far up her own ars* to be of any help.)

What happens at Pruderia? And what or where is M25?
Sounds excellent... just right for a deviated prevert like me.
Where do I learn more?

I cannot wait for Vogel night.
Schmidt, Landstrumm and Tresor DJs were playing there before.

Also, you can check Britain in Poland section on British Council website.

Going there on Tuesday and hope never to come back to this god-infested land.

Unfortunately it's not so easy to get away when you have ties here, like a wife. Though suppose I could divorce her....

The sad thing is I did use to "like" Poland, well sort of, before I moved here. It's mainly the day-to-day "joy of life" here (or complete lack thereof) that has turned me against this fantastic country.
Barx   Feb 1, 07, 14:59 /  #
Thanks Maati,
Light at the end of the tunnel.

Perhaps I won't commit suicide tonite after all.... Will go to Pruderia and commit suicide there....

(Just joking)

Aw, you have relationship problems, right?
That happens. Quite often.
It's normal. Get over it!
And also- University Library- you may find good English literature there.
You don't need to be a student to sing up .

talk to her, that's where the problem is and solve it, don't drag it.
Otherwise I will get sworn at again and I really didn't enjoy that

Oh well. Glad it elicited a response from you. More than a pathetic "zzzz"

The problem here in Poland is that it's the land of the undead.

Work, Money. TV, Sex, Sleep. Nothing else.
That's not my idea of life. But 40 millions (ooops make that 38 million Poles, think otherwise.)

It's just sad.
Sad. Sad. Sad. And I've had enough of it.

As for dragging it....
Babe, it's you who's in the wrong place. This is a chat forum.

Maybe you have to create a social life.
