I moved from the UK for love five years ago ( although we knew each other for longer ) and have been happily married now for four years, so it can work. My Polish still isn't great, but I've had two decent jobs and now run my own company, so it is possible ! Better to try, love and lose than regret it for ever in my opinion ;-)

Life is not a dress rehersal and You know your drunk if you are clinging on to the floor, trying not to fall off. This one is roughly the quote, can't fully recall the accurate version.

Do you know any American's that have had luck moving there? Seems to me that it's easier for the British than for someone like me. I moved to Poland 14 years ago, I knew no Polish. I escaped the British cloistered nanny state that doesn't allow anyone to do anything. I also have my own Polish business here, own land, own house, married, divorced, remarried, kids.. normal good life :-).. it is a good placeto be and experience freedom (as long as it lasts - before it becomes like USA and UK). I trry to beg Polish people to fight against the pitfalls that USA and UK have got both feet stuck in. Keep Poland Polish !!

good to see people that actually live in Poland posting here . normaly we have lot of people from and living in the UK posting in here . you guys live here so you know what is possible what is not the ones back in the UK only have an idea . so I am in favor if you like Poland live in Poland .

Im Australian and moved to Poland 2 years ago with my Polish wife, we are doing well, have a flat, bought some land, run our own business, looking to set up and second one. Life is good if you work hard.

a lot of people here say I run my own bussines wich type of ??? do you guys may tell a bit more about your so called Business ?? far as I am concern I run my own business could mean anything , drugs traffic , Prostitution , anything so I will bealive you people when I hear what bussiness this so called no Poles do in Poland .

Lol, well if it was drug trafficing or anything illegal, i'm sure no-one would tell you, I repair and service cnc plasma cutting machines, have a contract with an American company.

I would leap at the chance to take a short stay in Poland. Or longer if the opportunity arose.. But without work it would be sensless. Anyone know any good Agencies there..?

I run a small property company , has been hard work but knew the first year would be. Should reap the benefits now with any luck.

I run an Internet business. I was in the UK until recently but with my bills topping £1k a month I thought I could enjoy a better lifestyle here, as long as I have an internet connection I can pretty much work anywhere. We've (my girlfriend is Polish) now got a nice flat in Gorzow and the money goes a lot further here. It does feel like I'm on a permanent holiday though which is a little worrying for now.

Isnt the taxation very high for business's in poland though ? I have a business here in the UK which involves a lot of web design and internet work so again it would be very easy to run from anywhere, but when I move to poland would it be better keeping the business registered in the UK or registering it in Poland ?? does anyone know anymore about this ?

I have a business here in the UK which involves a lot of web As I understood it, large firms like Tescos moving in to Poland had special rates and incentives and have tax free rights for up to two years and this is why supermarkets change hands so often. A company moves in and they take advantage for two years and then they move on and another company comes then takes its place with a new name for the consecutive two years.

I am moving back to Poland in October after living in California for 7 years...I think it is going to be quite an experience. My family and friends say that the country has changed a lot in the last few years and I suppose I will find out soon enough if the change is a good one:)

Hi Czestochowa, I might be in the same position as you other than I would be working for an American software company but employed on contract. ie. I would be independent. Can you tell me about the sort of taxation and ZUS you are paying? Many thanks
