1jola: Polish way of making soup is great. It's a good start and any neighbour will show you once you break the ice. The trick is breaking the ice :)

Im more of an eat at home person to be honest, although I am partial to the occassional indian curry :D
ozdan: I went to a place the other night which served a big bowl of soup (a meal in itself) for 3zl.

Grzegorz_: In my opinion you should count in 500 PLN a month - the salaries are paid here monthly anyway. I saw your other topics and you should think about giving up a car. The price of fuel and insurence is high. The most importent cost is the rent anyway and remember that many owners are trying to ripp off foreigners.
Im going to give up the car for the moment, and perhaps return to the idea later when I am settled or have more money to put aside for it. I got a room close to the centre for 700 pln every mth, bills are included in that. Im sharing with 4 others, but its ok for the moment and I will maybe look for something else later.
Thanks for your replies everyone, you have really helped me a lot. Its always a little daunting moving to a new country and culture but getting advice on the practicalities of everyday living and expences from people living there is fantastic.
