It depends on how you view it. Taking pictures could be flattering. It means people care enough to capture your image. I wouldn't call snapping a photo an act of humiliation. Most people want their photo taken unless they are an established celebrity pulling a publicity stunt thus creating a maddening scene by punching out photographers.

young drunk ppl

They could have been acting like that because they were drunk. Most people are far more likely to yell and act stupid when UTI.

I'm not inventing it...

Yes, you are inventing this.

During the 80/90's I used to live with my parents (students) in Technical University Campus in Bialystok. We have had a lot of foreign exchange students (from Irak and other Arab countries, some students form a different parts of Africa etc.) and I don't remind any major tensions between them and polish students or Poles in general.
I remember that during the summer there were a massive open-air draughts tournaments between students from a different countries.

I think Polish People feel that they aren't 100% Polish but mixtures of Russian, Slovnia, Turks, German, Sweden and others. They are confused who they are and wanted to know their histories. They can be nice if they want to.

Please read the whole sentence : "some polish friends themselves also tell me that Polish are a bit racist"

No, I'm not inventing it, definitely not, sorry. Not my fault if they're just honnest enough to acknowledge it.

C'mon. Please. They clicked pics of her because she's black and they've never seen that before. Maybe it's not racism but they did it like she was an animal. And no one could be flattered to be considered like this,

True.

There is no such thing as 100% Polish (in genetical sense). Thousand years
of wars and mixing with Germans, Tatars, Russians, Turks, Swedes, Jews, Scots
and many other nationalities is enough to make us realize that talking about being
100% Polish doesn't make much sense. Being Polish is not about your skin tone or
hair colour but about your heart and soul (and in this way - it is possible to be 100%
Pole).

Victoria-Guest:
They are confused who they are

False.

We are Polish in our language, history, customs, hearts and souls.

Victoria-Guest:
wanted to know their histories

Erm... true.

Victoria-Guest:

True again.

So it's True - False 3:1 - not bad for your first post, Victoria ;)

Oh really ? I thought they all were a bunch of drunk, stupid, jobeless, junky, violent and racist fools :)

Of course they can be nice too - hopefully !

Okay, for one thing. You complained about youths yelling because they were drunk. Well, let me tell you, you can pretty much discount most of what people do when they are drunk. Most do not act the same drunk as they do sober and alcohol generally causes people to act kinda crazy and stupid. When a drunk does or says something you think "what a drunk" and ignore it. It's really got nothing to do with reality.

If they took pictures of her because she is black that is not a bad thing either. I don't understand why it's such an issue. Let's say you see an attractive guy and you have a camera and you think man, he's hot and you take his picture. Does this mean you're viewing him as an animal for taking that opportunity to get a photo of a cute guy?

Sorry plastic pole, I've never seen so much bad faith - or is it misunderstanding ? Or maybe both. Anyway

1) I'm not complaining about youths yelling because they were drunk, I was complaining about what they said. Drunk or not, it's just something I've never heard anywhere else. In UK or in US where guys get pissed quite often :) I've never heard such cr*p.

2) I don't care if your hobbies is to take pics of handsome guys :), it's not mine. But the reasons why you click pick of a handsome guy and picks of a black girl are definitely not the same (don't tell me they are).

I think you are projecting too much into the photo op. They take a picture. So? What does it matter? I'm light skinned caucasian and once I was in my front yard. Someone drove by with a camera and took my picture. I was stunned and wondered wtf they'd do that for but I didn't automatically think it was for some nefarious reason. It's one picture, what's the worse they could do?
People have said all kinds of things when drunk. They even sleep with people while drunk they wouldn't consider touching while sober. You can't take drunken behavior seriously. If you were complaining about what sober people said I would tell you "yeah, that's rude" but these were drunk and I never seen well behaved drunks.

You're right. They shouldn't have said anything like that and it's not right what they did.
However, I don't agree that it wouldn't happen in a different European country.
In Dublin, I saw two young Irish (probably, they were speaking English) guys and
one of them spat in a black woman's face when passing her (just like that).
One American black actress, I forgot the name but it was a headline story in
Irleand about 1-1,5 year ago got so much abuse that she swore never to come
back to Ireland again, every second taxi driver that I talked to was bit*ching and
moaning about "the blacks". Polish workers living in the Crumlin area found piles
of garbage dumped under their front door every morning etc. etc.
So, I'm afraid it's not only Poland where such shite is possible.

First of all, it sounds quite odd to take anybody's picture without his/her permission.
However, if I saw an extremely attractive black woman and had a camera ready to
use with me... ;)

Oh, I am wondering if Polish women are so drunk and how did they managed to have sex with Polish Men who are drunk????? What did they do? I see, they must took their clothes off and make sure they know what being naked is for. Good Sex. And Blow Your Mind!

I totally agree. I don't pretend this situation only happens in Poland. I just say that I've never seen it so far in other countries, maybe it's because it tends to happen more often over here.

As a lifelong 'happy drunk' (as in on the rare occasions in my life that I get drunk I am very happy and friendly as opposed to permanently drunk sense) I like to think I am reasonably well behaved. A little loud sometimes but always happy. Which is strange as alcolhol is supposed to be a depressant. The booze affects different people different ways I guess.

Statistics tell us something different. There's much more racially
motivated crime in Germany, Great Britain or France for example.

"In France (...) anti-Jewish violence, property destruction, and racist language has been wildly increasing over the last several years and French-Jews are worried more every month that it will spiral even higher."

polish ppl are very straightforward, you have to get used to it. so when we are drunk, you are likely to hear what we think about you ;)
and what can you hear if the drunk person is bum from deep countryside?

The reason is that some polish people are self-critical even if there is not a real problem.

We are very self-demanding you see.

I am sorry to kow about it. We got our own share of domestic ijdits in Finland. Despite school shootings, 15,000 threats of school shootings, men/women murding their families, being top class in work place bullying in EU...we still believe that 80% of crimes are committed by 20% of foreigners.

Don't worry about these clowns.

Not only do I find that hillarious, but I have to agree with Rafal . . . you are telling lies :) If by some small chance you are telling the truth, and if by some amazing coincidence these simple country folk happened to have a camera when your black friend was walking through the fields (pleaseeeee) Im sure they werent being rude, or racist. You really think Polish country folk have never seen a black person before ? lol Perhaps they still have b&w tvs and think the earth is flat also eh ?

NO I'M NOT.

The whole story is that we were 5 ppl (2 polish ppl, 2 french ppl and one dutch guy) on a trip in the North of Poland, near Mazuria Lakes. We ate in a very small restaurant in the night. The restaurant' owner and his teenage son looked at us in a really weird way. Especially our black friend. We had dinner and the teenage guy went somewhere and came back with his old camera. He asked to our polish friends to click a pic with us guy. We were a bit surprised but well, we accepted. So one of the polish guys took the pic, the son thanked him and told him it was te 1st time he saw black ppl and he thought these kind of ppl didn't exist in Poland.

Do you think all the blacks would move to Poland unless they spoke their minds? I don't get all this jive about blacks. There's not that many there anyway. Do they all wanna move there or something?
