The new Mods.

Im sure many of you have noticed a few changes around here since the new mods have come into operation.

Personally i think theyre doing a great job although some of the moderation is a tad over the top. PF has always been a freedom of speech site, certain NEW mods are becoming power happy and moving all kinds of interesting stuff around, deleting and censoring material.

Bring back the Z.

Can you imagine what kind of Mod Seanus would be? The very thought strikes terror in my heart.

You know, I don't notice it that much because I'm here to post comments and discuss issues, not wind them up and be a chancer like some. They have been thorough for the most part, I'll say that much.

Bored again, WB? Don't be fearful, it's overrated ;) Good to see that you restored terror to its original, looser meaning :)

Well, I'm not really bored when I post and I don't hate the place at all. Why do you feel you get looks of contempt btw? I know what you are saying, I just wanna know if it's for real or a trifle of paranoia on your part.

From what I have seen on this Forum, I feel that Seanus is the most qualified person to be a moderator. He flip flops a little, but still tries to give a fair opinion. At least he does not have a foul mouth.

For the amount of posts youve put over the past year you must be bored.

Maybe Polish people look at everybody as though their going to head butt them. Im just not used to it, i do drive a british plated car though and most Poles think im Polish the ones that know look at me with contempt. Otherwise i generally blend in, looking at them like shite the same way they look at me.

Paranoia maybe, i miss being nice to fellow human beings.

Flip-flops, lol, nice Americanism. We don't use that, well, only as sandals.

Here Jethro, pass the soap to WB, Scottish gift. I'm not gonna go to mouthwash ;)

Good to see you back posting :)

Well, I do get bored on occasion but who doesn't?

I have received looks of hostility, yes.

True, thats why I think the older members of the forum have long quit, theres only a few of us left form 2006 and that number is dwindling.
I talk to other members in private and there is a lot of discontent.

Selective moderation has run rampant again!

actually, this site has always been overmoderated except when there wee no mods. even just admin and pd tended to move stuff, change poists and the like. so, i have reservations as to freedom of speech here. you're free to post but if they don't like it, they'll come up with a new rule and mess with your post.

Didn't he just vanish? Perhaps that is slightly mysterious.

The new mods are okay. Actually, New MODS is what people used to call folk-punk band the New Model Army, not something with which I associate either pgtx or wroclaw.

A couple of valid posts I've made have been moved to RC, perhaps only for my tendency to occasionally employ vagueness and surrealism. Both new mods were people I suggested may be good for the job, and if they weren't mods now, I would still recommend them, although I think they sometimes do more than is necessary.

yup. it's not really the mod's issue, per se. they do work under strickt direction and oversight of the admin. heil admin. *click*

No matter who is picked as a moderator, someone will find fault. You cant please everybody all the time.

Of course just that i had this thrown in random chat whilst on topic:

Wroclaw Boy:
giovannile07: That's interesting... Are the Polish police forces not that great? Not able to handle con artist and getting criminals to where they belong?

If claiming to put castrol GTX in my car engine and charging 300 PLN for the service but actually pouring some low grade Tescos crap oil is a crime then they are bad. The lengths to which the Poles go to shave a profit is unbelievable. I had 2 John Deere lawn mowers in for service and they cam back with empty fuel tanks, you getting the picture?

Whats the problem with that i ask?

The Mods need to make quick decisions about a new post and especially during busy times - it may not always be the right one. Some posters have to be kept in check as their intention is clearly to offend or stir some trouble just for fun.
We know what happens when there are no Mods, there were a couple of instances of that in the past. The website turned quite 'scary'! :o

I think they are doing a pretty good job. It would be a good idea for them however to leave a bad post where it is and see what happens, before dealing with it immediately.
Let the posters decide if the like the new "off the wall" post and if they want to deal with it.
There is always time to delete or move...

From what youve seen indeed, the current new moderators were the correct choices. I dont know Seanus personally but I can imagine the type of power happy moderator he would be. He'd be all over everything with comments and red words all over the place. Warnings and suspensions would be dealt with fierce power happy ferocity. His entire on line persona would change for the worse, big time.

"If Butch goes to Indochina
I want a nigger hidin'
in a bowl of rice ready to pop a cap
in his ass" Pulp Fiction.

Like a Polish, Tesco's security guard.

Sorry dudeski, thats my opinion I hope i would be wrong.

That's one of the best posts I've seen, WB. I love Pulp Fiction and often quote it. I'm not really like that at all, I occasionally get carried away and there are posts that I'm not proud of. I should really do what I set out to do and that is to imagine that the person I am writing about is sitting next to me, reading what I'm writing about them.

I may be carrying frustration and not seeing it. Unintentionally channeling into my posts. However, PF is not my livelihood. When my teaching standards start to slip and my observation results go downhill, then I'll start to worry. However, I've really worked on many aspects of my game and do my best to give food for thought, be level-headed and fair. I may not always succeed, but it is the trying that counts.

Besides, sometimes the forum needs a little beefing up and you know it. It animates people in a safe way, no punches are thrown unlike in a bar. The key word is balance. Don't go overboard. I have been a little unfair on Yehudi and have painted too negative a picture of the Jewish case. I apologise for any offence caused.

Most likely explanation is that they're taking their new responsibilties seriously; thus, they're still finding their "feet" - therefore, are bound to make some minor mistakes.

Personally, I think they're doing a fine job: given time and experience they're skills will be honed razor sharp!

Be a little more patient chaps :)

I think they've been fair, firm when needed and here more than enough. Both of them got my vote and I stand by that. They are cool and helpful, ideal for the job.

A little less shipping off to random chat would be ok, tho. Some of my comments, and those of others, may have seemed random but when read as a whole in the context of the thread, they often aren't.

Still, ending on a positive note, nice work guys. Credit where credit is due :)

I'm not sure if you're asking me or Wahldo. Admin says his name is Tomasz, so I reckon chances are he's a limey. Moderator polishgirltx might be a bit limey as well, but maybe I'm just putting two and two together and getting twenty one. Hmmm... who feels hard-done-by and why?

Being a moderator is probably a bit like wearing one of those roundel / target motifs.

Przemas:
Seanus is an inevitable mod, the boy has a pragmatic feel to him, make it happen already and be done with it.

He is didn't get a mod job though. I'm not a mod because I have no conception of the passage of time, amongst other more realistic reasons.

That's a bit of a strange post considering that two of the team are Polish, one is from Scotland and one is from Newcastle. None of them could be considered "Limey".

Evidently not. Surely if he was then pgtx and Wroclaw wouldn't have been selected and Seanus would have been.

The Mods are doing a good job IMO.

Oh please no!
The 'boy' is a self-righteous pompous ass whose own deliberations are focused on his own ego-infested reality.

This is a opinion of my own and as such I have a right to voice it, and moderators should not allow personal judgments to affect their job, otherwise it can be classed as censorship.

Yes but this is a thread about "The New Mods" of which Seanus is not one. Thanks. :)
