Sure, why not? were you unsatisfied with the answer? It's akward to me too, but I'll get used to it.

Many people cannot or will not accept change. They need to read a book called Who moved my cheese?

May have to do that if I can't get used to it.
Do like seeing the avatars though, but not on the right ;)

The frikken rats running the organization, that's who!!!

Just kidding on the wise-donkey remark by the way, I do hold the Mods and Admin in high regards.

I am not a fan of the right handed Avatars though.

Nope, satisfied here [that if we don't like a change/the way something is done - then tough. And] with the answer :P.

Yeah, so the sheep are herded into a new pen every week and we have to follow baa baa lol........

Change is only ever good if it's effective and popular. And it takes a brave man to admit when he got something wrong, huh ?

Why we have to get use to it. Its almost like asking right-handed person to start writing with their left hand. Its just silly and uncalled for.

How patronising! At least the author of that book suggests that more than one choice is possible! And yes, I have read it in its entirety, and it helped me immensely!

It's not as if the forum software has been altered to give us a "display avatar left or right" choice, has it? Many of us hate this change, but we are stuck with it! Mind you, this forum's software is pretty pants anyway... we can't even post polls and stuff like on other forums. Vbulletin is far better, and allows users to choose their display, unlike here. But that's another thread altogether. i know I won't be missed if I stopped posting, but I for one certainly will, because I have no time for forums which aren't user-friendly.

Search function is far more advanced on this one than a couple I've seen by now. I like it.

When you watch a movie, you see a list of the actors and directors [poster's username] at the end of the movie, not the other way..

With respect that is totally different because you do not have the credits on each still ! We have to look left to right at each post and it is disorientating to the majority because of the way our brains register the information.

Please change it back Admin <s>

I'm logging off for tonight cos it is making me dizzy hehe.

...and in a discussion group [more appropriate analogy than a film?] we close our eyes whilst people speak and look at them after they've spoken. Wait.. maybe not. [neither analogy really works..]

at least, this change made Admin to post something....he doesn't even play the Word Game with us anymore.... ;)

Lets move the PF logo over to the right as well. That way we could move the search function to the left, enabling the newbie posters to immediately see the search function and avoid creating duplicate threads.

Why do you look at left and right? When I read a message, it takes me a 0.1sec to peek at the author's name (when needed) and focus on the message. It will feel better in a couple of days, believe me ;).

This not a movie but a message board, and they way its set up now feels very unnatural.

I always believe in you <g> but in this I don't agree with you.

My logical and analytical brain is struggling because I like to see who who I am reading before I read. Smple as that. It't the natural order of the brain unlesss it is a long article or story and the author is known at the bottom of the page. And there is only one credit at the end. Here we have a few lines for every post.

There have been studies on the effects of rapidly swinging ones eyes from the left to the right in short sharp rapid movements. It is considered far from the ideal <too put it bluntly> unless it is structured in a certain way with a view to exercising and stimulating the brain but that has to be a contolled exercise for people who require such exercises !

I'd have expanded on that but I do feel dizzy and could do with a cigarette to calm my nerves but I no longer smoke lol......

When you are on a message board, you're here to read the message, not the poster's details or avatars.. No?

Yes, it's a great book and wasn't directed towards anyone in here, but I was thinking about change due to the reorganization currently happening at my company. It helped me, so why not share. Like yourself and the others, I feel it's uncomfortable to look at myself, but I'm willing to give it a try.

No one here is forcing you to do anything. Missed or not, we do like seeing fresh faces and new opinions. Well, maybe not all of em :)

Maybe that's not the right way..? How many useful posts have you missed just because you felt the particular poster had nothing important to contribute? (I myself missed probably a lot). Either way, the eye will get used to "taking a peek" at the username sooner than you might think.

Of course your hear to read the posters details, are you George bush or what!!!!.

Before i read the message i like to see who has posted so that i can make sure its even worth reading as there are some on here who type absolute rubbish.

Secondly, why fix something that isn't broken, have you had a number of e-mails stating, ow we would like the format changed so that the info sits on the right?? no i don't think so, you just got bored so thought, well i tell you what we'll do, change the way you look at the topic. Just like the bunch of administrators you are your not happy unless your administrating and interfering with other peoples experiences!!!!.

Finally, how about you ask people's opinion on what i and others see as a major issue as it changes the whole pf experience as far as reading posts etc. I know the UK government aren't any good at referendums but how about you give us a chance at one!!!!

i will leave you with 'DON'T FIX WHAT ISN'T BROKEN'

Since every other forums have avatars on the left side,
maybe PF wants to be different, in some weird way... very weird...way.

Which is probably why it is awkward to everybody's eyes, we won't get used to this layout when every other forum is the opposite.

P.S. 'i got a blue flag hanging out my backside, but only on the left side, yeah thats the crip side' if snoop doggy dog can get it right then why can't PF admin

I doubt any. Do you close your eyes when people speak to you to concentrate on what they are saying? Point is, we don't need to. I don't bypass posts because I dislike a poster, I read it [possibly to see what sh*t they are spouting now] anyway (and jusdging by the amount of 'sparring parteners' on the forum I'd guess many read things by posters they're not fond of).

I do like to know who it is though. If someone says something that isn't nice, I like to know who. We all(?) get an idea of what a poster is like from what they post and come to know a general idea of their character. The person who posted something less than nice might have been having a bad day - and you might not be as tough on them in your reply or know that they are normally reasonable or something and take it as a one-off. As one example, that is.

I'm not saying you can't see who posted [just answering why you would want to see who posted as well as what they posted]. Nothing wrong with knowing who you are answering. Anyway, my annoyance at the layout isn't really that, it's about the way posts are easier for the eye to split up on the page [imho, of course] if they have the avatar at the start [and in case you would point out, I know they are the same distance from the next post as they always were and a different shade of grey, but it does optically make a difference]
