After having written on and read PF for about 2 years now I have decided to stop writing on and reading this site. I no longer find the racist sentiments, hostility to other people, whether Polish girls are pretty and whether they like black men blah blah blah of any interest. I think this site does nothing but make Poles, the Polish diaspora and assorted oddballs sound like a bunch of twats who think they are God's gift (or pope JPII's gift) to the world. Good luck to you all and carry on hating everyone and everything. Ta-ta folks!
PS. Oh yeah and on a final point I think a lot of those American Polish folks should perhaps visit here before commenting on how groovy it is.

Sorry to see you go finT. I certainly agree that there is too much hostility and not enough respect on this site.

Amen...I have found in every place I have been that the most vocal and most defensive are those that don't even live there and often never have...but because they were born there or some old family came from there they think it is perfection on Earth. Grass is always greener.

I guess I'm confused. Every now and then someone PMs me and asks why Poland is put down on PF and only bad things about Poland or Polish people are being exposed here. As I understand it, you claim it's 180 degrees the other way, correct? Then I would be confused even more :}.

Then go away :) Why are you still here? I think you like Poland and Polish people but don't want it to be known. It's okay, i won't tell anyone ;)

Ahh but there are still interesting topics about Jews, immigration to the UK or WWII so maybe you should reconsider your move?

PF is a place where a lot of people get offended, whether they are British ladies, Americans, Poles, Jews, blacks and those bloody homos! God how I despise fags! Arghhh… ;)

But back to the main topic. There is still a lot of interesting debates present here, you just have to develop a thick skin for all the haters that use this site to vent.

It’s sad to see you go. I really did appreciate your contribution but maybe it is this time of the year again?

Sure, there is a lot of pointless crap, but please try to ignore it.... there are some decent people having interesting discussions here too!! I've given and gained lots of advice on travels around Poland.

I have been to different forums and I have learnt the bigger the forum is, the more hostilities come up. It is like with rats - when the congestion gets out of control, they start fighting, some for space, others for domination. One cannot deny Polish Forums is the biggest of all, I even suppose no other nationality has such a big one. In big groups there are always members who irritate others. Simple statistics.

As a teacher I can also see how students interact in large classes. There are always some animosities between them, it is unavoidable, once I tried hard to teach them to make love, not war, but it was useless.

As for such repeating threads as pretty girls and black guys, yes, I noticed it too they appear regularly every week or so. The best strategy is to avoid them and posters who love developing such topics. Just stop reading certain threads and people, and you will be fine.

I understand what he is saying though. You can ask something important or serious and never get an answer or one in a week...yet the stupid threads get a ridiculous amount of posts. It is not just here...but it IS frustrating.

Yeah if people would ignore the morons they would get lose interest or more down in the posts...but people just can't stop giving them attention and arguing.

Depends.... if your question is a bit specialist, you may have to wait for a response. Looking for a Gaellic speaking poodle groomer in Hel... hmmmm.... they won't all rush at once :D

Glasgow Summer Time?
I suppose that's when the sky is a slightly lighter shade of grey and the rain is slightly warmer.

It's my first post after a six weeks break, on the verge of leaving the forums too :(

You shouldn't be. It works both ways. And both become highly irritating after a certain period (after a certain amount of cr*p read).
There are many Polish posters "higher than thou" attitude, but on the other hand also many non-Poles who have little or nothing valuable to say and use the forums only to vent their frustrations, mudslugging Poland, Poles or anyone that happens.
A lack of balanced discussion is often a problem.

LondonChick:

An "ignore" feature would be usuful then.
There's a group of the "usual suspects" who (for me) don't offer anything, they aren't even worth the time to roll the mouse-wheel to scroll the page down :(
When you read someone's 30th post with nothing else than offending content you simply put him on ignore for the rest of your life, it's a relief. It also reflects the real life - you don't like someone you don't meet with him/her, you don't talk to that person, you don't have to listen either.
You can also choose to turn off the TV / radio etc. if you don't like something they're saying.
There are +6 billion people on this earth, noone has the time (and will) to listen to all of them thus we apply filters, these forums lacks such filters (and I agree with the Admin's policy of NOT banning posters. Let them speak, in the name of the freedom of speech, but give us the possibility to not listen. Let those useless words of many end in a void)

Interesting idea, although in practice I can't see it working as people will be "quoting" those people you have set to ignore.

If you start to filter people on the forum, it deletes the purpose of debate. Even if there are stupid people who post. How would you know what the thread is about if half the posts were deleted?

I gosh, I had those moments too. I wanted to quit and I did. I even suspended myself once, but I still came back. I created some drama because I wanted the PF to be what it was not. Now when I think about my behavior, I am actually ashamed a little bit.
I like PF the way it is, although some posters bother me, but I realized that it is, what it is. One needs to be a little bit forgiving I guess. It was a good lesson for me. I also see some other posters changing their behavior and being a little less demanding and I am glad then haven't left because PF would not be the same without them.

another thing is that we should not forget is WHAT we argue, not WHO we argue with.

No-one seems to be picking up on my pantomime theme. Maybe because cross-dressing is frowned upon around here.

No, it's not about stupidity.
I was visiting (for a year or two) a movie forum (IMDB) and during that time I put on ignore 2 persons. "Normal" people (or rather forum members) can say/write different things, sometimes wise, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes pathetic, and they maybe even stupid, but sincere, looking for some help, advice, information. They are not the problem. It's about posters (and I really don't want to mention and names/nicks here) who for various reasons are intollarable for me (or you).

dtaylor:

If half the posts were from people on my ignore list, that would be a thread I wouldn't be interested anyway. Fortunatelly, noone here is forced to read all threads and sections :)

Not everyone enjoys debate...I despise arguing especially about things I can't do anything about. Some people seems to live for arguing...more of the latter on the internet it seems.
