sledz: I noticed alot of members dont even post on anymore, I wonder why there hasnt been very many ppl that donate to this site??? As in life, everybody takes most things for granted. When the good will of some people here is over then the site will either feature banners and ads or spam and off-topic, nonsense discussions. Remember www.polishforums.co.uk (maybe some of you still enjoy it)? I suppose only then there will be a good time to complain.
Torq: 25 bucks for a seal, custom comment, bigger inbox and "who's online' is a bit dear - but that's just my opinion. Well, if you compare it to the time you spend on the site, $25 a year doesn't seem too much. How much total time a year do you spend in restaurants and how much do you spend annually on tips for the waiters? I suppose you spend more time on PF than in restaurants but you (understandingly or not) don't see it that way.
sledz: Its not the money too me, I would give them a 100 bucks right now but I feel that there is way too much policing going on here. I do not agree at all. I myself post weekly on professional forums and every 3rd post is deleted. Some of the reasons:
1. I mentioned two or more direct words in my post (and it's not allowed to post any correspondence you received).
2. I posted a call to action against a fraudulent company (it's not allowed either).
3. I called someone 'stupid' (it's not allowed).
4. I linked to an image and didn't have a 'written permission' to do so (it's not allowed).
But I still post there because the knowledge I gain is worth more (and I pay $150 a year to participate in a forum). Here some members post or read for knowledge, some spend time to have fun and the freedom of speech is as free as it legally gets. To the point that at least once a week we receive an email from an angry person who shouts "Why do you allow this and that post to stay, if you were a Pole/American/Jew/British/you-name-it then you would not allow it to stay!"
If you want more freedom of speech, just browse this FAQ and Feedback forum for opinions -- none of them were deleted, even the oldest and the most notorious ones.
tornado2007: I think a few people have been kicked of the site for having anti-polish views, it would not surprise me if this was the case. Bash what you like, as long as its not Polish :) You couldn't be more wrong and you think stereotypically. Just because the forum is fully devoted to Poland doesn't mean different opinions against Poland or Polish people are not allowed. Just the opposite. Again, read the forum threads.
sledz: Cant we have a forum that a person can speak thier mind without being afraid that the PC brigade will jump all over them or be suspended/deleted because a Mod doesnt like what they have to say? Who was suspended recently because I don't recall anyone in the last months who would be suspended for more than 24 hrs (if someone is drunk and posts *** it's better to suspend him temporarily). And messages are not being deleted - if they are trashed it's because they are off-topic.
sledz: Yes I would be more relaxed, execpt for abusive swearing, porn or nasty vugularites. Most vulgar words are being automatically edited, porn - it's a problem of other forums maybe. How about making sure the discussion is on-topic, has correct title, is in the correct category, is not copied from other sites, etc.? Or maybe it would be better to just create one big forum "CHIT-CHAT POLAND & Whatever" and one big topic "The discussion" and then more members would find it better? That would definitely save moderators time and effort..
