How to upload new Avatars...

Well...How do I do it? I've tried already but it said it was either too big or didn't meat specifications, or something like that. It wasn't a "bad" picture or anything. It was a cat wearing a melon like a gladiator's helemt.

Probably it didn't meet one of these requirements:

File format (gif, jpeg, jpg, or png). Max. size - 5 Kb. Max. width - 85px; Max. height - 100px.

How can I determine if a avatar meet the requirements? Do I need a special software?

no you just need to modify it so that it's small enough. You can change the percentage in MS paint until it's small enough

not sure. Are you using a MAC? All Windows PC's come witha standard microsoft Paint. Did you check: start >>Prog>>accessories?

Ok thanks - how many bytes are in a kilobyte? Sorry - American with no knowledge of metric system!

1024 Bytes is a kilobyte
So, although a metric "kilo" equals 1,000 (e.g. one kilogram = 1,000 grams), a binary "Kilo" equals 1,024 (e.g. one Kilobyte = 1,024 bytes). Not surprisingly, this has led to a great deal of confusion

Ok help - I did it once and I changed my avatar but it won't show on any of my posts? I think it's the right size cause I can see it in my settings but not on my posts!

Okay - my new avatar has 2768 bytes so it should be okay? Did I do something wrong? Hello - Admin?

No - it the same dog but a different picture! I changed it after you taught me how and now the new picture won't show!

Not sure what you mean - I also see your avatar correctly (and previously there was a "smaller" dog). Try to press F5 on your keyboard or delete cookies.

yes, thank you. When I changed the first time it uploaded immediately but the second time I had to close down but now it is okay. Thanks again!

Right click and save picture as...should be small enough to use now
