Butcher Shops in Poznan?

Does anyone know of any butcher shops in Poznan where one can buy a steak, ground beef for burgers, or any other cuts of meat?

Walk down any high street and im sure ull find one. Butcher in polish is rzeznik

Are there that many private butcher shops left in Poland? Haven't the big foreign-owned supermarkets monopolised the scene by now?

I warned you, beef is not the meat of choice. Ground beef is sometimes available in supermarkets but in butchers shops it's usually big hunks of boneless beef (mostly good for stewing though Polish people don't go into for stew) and/or rostbef (kind of a thick chop more suitable to pot roast than frying).

Beware of ground pork from butchers you don't know as it might be from a boar and lead to indigestion.

Ask around Polish acquaintances and you might find something, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Time to learn to love pork.

for Poloniuch 3, most butcher shops are either private stand alones or chains like Prosiaczek (or sklep firmowy for a particular meat producer). I usually buy meat at one of three good butcher shops within a three minute walk from my front door (in different directions though).
People don't buy as much meat from the supermarkets (which have gotten a bad reputation for low quality and/or selling meat past its due date).

There's a pretty big butcher's shop in Os. Czecha that seems to do all sorts of meat, though I don't do the shopping, I don't know if it will do that sort of thing, though.

I've really got to get out and do some exploring! I've been holed up in my apartment (flat) since I've gotten here wondering if there's this and if there's that and where to find it. I thank everyone here for their posts and direction. Once I start to learn where I am a little better, I'll be back to do the same for those like myself.

Anyway, I have another question or three. I noticed that the small gas tanks (for heating/cooking) have a similar-looking connection to those like the propane tanks in the U.S.

First question: Is the gas propane or butane?
Second: Would anyone know if the connection is the same? I guess you would call it a spout or whatever it is where you connect the hose to the place on the tank where you turn the knob to turn the gas on.
Third question: Where can I find an outdoor gas grill, or do I have to import one? I'm looking for one you can find on the web in stores such as Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. I couldn't find anyone to take mine from me before I left since their apartments' balconies were too small. I had to leave it next to my apartment's trash bin hoping it would find a good home. 30 minutes later it was gone. Ah, pretty useless info. It wasn't like I was giving up a dog or anything...but it sure felt like it.

Get yourself a weekly tram ticket (32zl, though only irritatingly available from MPK points rather than most kiosks) and explore!

What part of the city are you in? I might be able to give you some ideas on interesting places to explore that's nearby if I know the area.

First question : Absolutely no idea, I'm afraid.
Secondly : Again, sorry, but no idea. I think though, that the connection probably is the same.
Thirdly : Now, this is what I might know about. There's two places that might sell such a thing that I know of - Media Markt and Praktiker. (sp?). Both are in the M1 shopping centre in Rataje, and they do quite a lot of things like this - though I don't know if they will actually have outdoor cookers. But they would be your best bet, I think.
