Where can I find authentic kebabs in Krakow

When I lived in Germany, the kebabs sold in many small restaurants were wonderful - made by actual Turks, I am told. However, I find the kebabs in Krakow to be nothing like those I enjoyed in Berlin - any idea where I can find the good stuff here? Thanks!

The kebabs in Berlin will be made for the German market. Just like the Kebabs in the UK are made for a UK market and kebabs in Krakow are made for a Polish market. If you want authentic kebabs then go to Turkey. Just because they are made by Turks does not mean it's authentic, I know many a turkish kebab shop owner in Glasgow, but the kebabs are still nothing like kebabs in Turkey. So you are unlikely to find Berlin style kebabs in Krakow. Learn to love the Krakow Kebab.

Yup you are right Cardno85,our tastebuds are conditioned to taste food relativement what we eat often ie. through our experience,which can often be misleading for others.

True that, the Poles don't go in for spice. For them, a pasanda curry is spicy. This is just the way of things. The Chinese food in Japan was altered to suit the Japanese palate. I'd imagine that Krakow has an abundance of kebab joints.

There are about a million kebab shops in Krakow. But the point is true for most food. Look at Chicken Vindaloo, the incarnation in the UK doesn't exist in India. But drunken louts love it because it's the only thing their drunken palates can taste so you can get it in any Indian in the UK. And chinese food and the ubiquitous greeny yellow curry sauce that you get in the UK. Never in my travels round south east asia have i seen anything like that...ever. It's a big contributing factor to people having dodgy stomachs when they travel to the far east. There is minimal dangerous bacteria in the food as it is cooked at such a high temperature, but your stomach and palate immediately see it as foreign and react as such.

I tasted a Kebab in most of the major cities in Poland, and by FAR, the best kebabs are in the centrum miasto w Słupsku:) I didnt really like the ones in Krakow

For someone who loved the kebab berlin/german style, the polish interpretation is hard to understand. Since Kebab was invented for the german market and spread from berlin all over the world the most authentic kebab will be found in Berlin. For me, a german girl who used to live in Olsztyn the polish interpretation of kebab still remains a miracle... how could one get the idea of ketchup as a topping on kebab???? You better try some of the true real and marvellous polish food, like naleszniki and priogi and zurek, and enjoy kebab once you're back in Berlin or some other german city ;)
