My husband and sister are looking for a receipe for a polish soup called Fos/Phos (don't know the spelling) It is whitish in color and has a sour taste. It is served with noodles in it.

Rosół (pronounced rosoo). More clear yellow, but run the whole gamut from white-ish to golden, depending on the recipe. That often has noodles.

Zupa Mleczna (milk soup), never fancied the look of it, but often has noodles.

Barszcz Biały is white, but is noodle-less.

Fos/Phos?

There's Zupa Fasolowa (bean soup) which could be white-ish, but I've never seen it with noodles.

If it tasted sour, it could very well be Żurek (pronounced something like Dzoorek, sour rye soup), easy to make, unusual outside eastern Europe, lovely flavour, but more likely to have sausage in than noodles. Can be made thick or thin, the sausages can be sliced or even (more in west Poland, I think), whole. Perfectly possible to put noodles in it though not so usual.
