Polish hot toddy?

Hi! Does anyone know if there's a Polish equivalent for a Hot Toddy (whiskey or brandy with lemon & cloves etc...) Also, are there any other traditional cold remedies particular to Polish culture?

I don't think that whisky is particularly popular in Poland... shame because Poles are really missing out - curling up on the sofa and watching a film on tv with a hot toddy is one of the best bits about having a cold.

I sometimes grate fresh ginger into mine :P

There is a drink called Krupnik, that is warm vodka with cloves and cinnamon (very good on a winter day). But it contains no whisky. However, if you have a cold, some Krupnik would clear that out in a hurry.

the czech have something similar with the cloves but its more like Blob - with whisky and wine - they call it Grog...OMG it's yummy :)

Hot mulled beer (grzane piwo z korzeniami) is also good for colds and insomnia.
In saucepan heat a pint of lager with 3-4 cloves, 1 grain allspice, 3-4 peppercorns, small bit of gingerroot (and a bit of bay leaf -- optional) to below boiling point. Strain. Sweeten to taste with sugar, cherry or raspberry sirup or honey. Drink hot.
Poles claim it also chases your cares away:

My Babcia made something that she called Gdzanka. I'm not sure if I'm spelling it correctly. But it was melted sugar, maybe with some water too (until it turns brown) and then I think she poured some vodka in there at the end after the stove was turned off and mixed it together. She poured it in tiny glass mugs the size of a shot glass. She even let me have this when I was a kid to help me get over a nasty cold.
