Have to cook for guests tomorrow and I want to do something different, preferrably with Alcohol as I have a nice bottle of Whiskey still standing.

So, are there? If yes, what? And ingredients, pls? Thanks!

Try baking it in a bundt cake. It may taste similar to a rum cake. Better start baking it now buddy. (Save a slice for me!)

A sincere thanks PF, for putting up with me FIVE terrific years, muah!

Will do, but first the recipes of course :) And you have to come over to Dubs as I am afraid if I send it by mail, it will be gone when it arrives.

Saute, baste, adds a touch, but I only use wine. Whisky is best in dessert. A sponge cake and soak, soak, and soak. If it's a good bottle of whisky single that out and pair food with that.

Thanks, Sadieann. I will keep it in mind. I once had this great recipe with Sherry, but unfortunately I forgot it :( I am looking for hot dishes, preferrably.

Is it Sherry or Whisky? That makes a big difference.

Bloody Mary as a starter - tomato soup with a splash of vodka? Whoops missed the whiskey comment, you could do a steak with a whiskey cream sauce? Also do a take on tramisu - whiskey and coffee go like apple pie and ice cream :)

Also pate with orange and whiskey is quite nice...Home made pate is the best...as long as you have good bread!

Some casseroles are good with whisky. Hotpotch maybe? Let the whisky infuse its flavour into the dish. Even bigos might be good with whisky.

It's whiskey. I was just talking about a recipe I had a long time ago and was really good.

Thanks! I was indeed thinking of doing a sweet tomato soup as a starter, some wodka in there certainly wouldn't do harm.

Seanus

Casseroles are great and kinda easy to make. Since I am a lazy cook, that might be an option, yes.

Also, the Poles really like stews and casseroles. Model it on Kociołek by Łowicz here. Check out the label on that. It's tasty stuff!

Here's everybody's favourite "Chruscziki"
or also known as 'Faworki"

2 cups flour
2-3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons soft butter
2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon 6% white vinegar or alcohol
2 tablespoons rum
lard or oil for fryimg

Mix butter, egg yolks, sugar and alcohol or vinegar together.
While mixing, slowly add flour. Knead the dough. Keep beating and
kneading the dough for 15 minutes. When ready, put it in a bowl,
cover, and let stand in a cool place for an hour. Roll dough on
the board till it is very thin. Cut 2x7 inch strips, make a slit
in the middle and pull one end through it.

In a deep frying pan, heat the lard (oil). To test readiness of
oil, put a small piece of dough in it, if it immediately comes to
the surface the temperature is right. Put 4-5 strips at a time
and deep fry on both sides. Take out and place on a paper towel.
Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
